â911â is Chromaticaâs 8th track. Gaga first talked about the song back in May, on her interview with Zane Lowe for Beats1. The song talks about an antipsychotic the singer takes because she canât control her brain.
âI have incredible doctors, they do not give me any kind of narcotic, when I sing Pop a 911, itâs not an opioid, I donât take any pain medication because itâs not healthy for me.â
Back in July, Lady Gaga reunited with Tarsem Singh, director, to discuss the vision for the video. âI made it not about blood loss, but about the opposite of being high on drugs: Basically, a lack of a drug. You donât have your pills, so youâre not on your medication.â said Singh to Entertainment Weekly.
Described as a short film, â911â features some references from classic movies such as âThe Color of Pomegranatesâ (Sergei Parajanov) and â8 ½â (Federico Fellini). The director revealed that he realized how personal this song was for her after she started to cry after hearing his concept. âShe moved heaven and earth for me.â
