We first took a glimpse into the ARTPOP universe when Gaga performed at the 2013 MTV VMAs, where she premiered the first single “Applause”. For the performance she collaborated with the renowned theater director Robert Wilson, with whom she further worked later on in 2013, posing for him, while Wilson was recreating some of the most iconic paintings that were later displayed in Louvre, Paris.
Gaga joined forces with American artist and sculptor Jeff Koons for the album cover. Koons created a special statue of Gaga with his famous gazing ball. Gaga used the statue and incorporated Sandro Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus” and Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s “Apollo and Daphne” for the iconic cover. The cover truly represented the mixture of high art and culture into pop, representing Gaga’s idea of a “reverse Warholian” (pop-art) process.
Gaga worked with numerous producers on ARTPOP. She worked with DJ Zedd, DJ White Shadow, Madeon… The goal was to incorporate multiple genres, including EDM, rave, R&B, rap, dubstep and pop.
Gaga also gave countless interviews and performed on numerous TV shows and award ceremonies including iTunes Festival, American Music Awards, Saturday Night Live, Graham Norton Show, X Factor, The Voice, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and even “Lady Gaga and the Muppets Holiday Special” including guest performances by Elton John and RuPaul.
Gaga held a one-day exclusive album launch party - artRave, headlined the concert special live at Roseland Ballroom and embarked on a world tour artRave: The ARTPOP Ball.
The whole ARTPOP era was filled with extravagant fashion, even multiple outfits with different wigs in a single day. Gaga served with every single outfit, day after day.
Happy 10 year anniversary ARTPOP. You are and will forever be one of the most avantgarde and underrated pop masterpieces!

Neil McCormick from UK's The Telegraph gave a 5 out 5 star review saying that "Jagger and Gaga are on astonishing, exultant form", adding:
"But the outstanding thrill of this performance is yet to come, as it builds to a huge climax and reaches a powerful conclusion after five minutes, only for Jordan to pick up the beat again. Gaga laughs and joins in, trilling the chorus melody, producer Andrew Watt adds a bass line and Jagger calls “Play me something, Stevie”, inspiring Wonder to weigh in with lubricious piano."
Ed Potton from The Times UK wrote another 5 star review calling the record "a jam session for the gods,” adding:
"Sweet Sounds of Heaven sounds like a band at the peak of a jam session for the gods: loosened up, euphoric and effortlessly bouncing off each other. And what a band it is. Lady Gaga holds her own against a rejuvenated Mick Jagger on vocals, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood turn the clock back to their pomp, Steve Jordan impressively replaces Charlie Watts on drums and a certain Stevie Wonder plays sublime piano, Fender Rhodes and Moog."
Gil Kaufman from Billboard said:
"Lady Gaga goes to church and skies up into her highest, most soulful register on the new Rolling Stones gospel blues burner “Sweet Sounds of Heaven. The song eventually rises to a joyous riot of guitar, drums, saxophone and keyboards more than five minutes in, building to a pair of joyous peaks as Jagger and Gaga get entangled in a growly soul shout-off."
Kristina Baum from The Rolling Stone Germany wrote:
"Sweet Sounds of Heaven” is a more soulful number that builds up into a pompous number with a big band feel – also thanks to Lady Gaga’s vocal power."
Joey Nolfi from EW said:
"Lady Gaga, Stevie Wonder, and the Rolling Stones spent more than seven minutes in heaven together on their new song, and now they've finally shared its sweet sounds with the world — including a new vocal style from Gaga unlike anything you've heard from her before."
Kaelen Bell from Canadian Exclaim wrote:
"Gaga is clearly channelling some Merry Clayton-esque, background-singer-who-steals-the-show bravura in her wailing delivery. It's a pretty solid song for a band in their sixth decade! Gaga adds some real electricity to the thing, and you just know she had fun in that studio trading "oh yeahs" with Jagger."
Carys Anderson and Eddie Fu from the Consequence of Sound said:
"Jagger is then joined by Gaga, who at first delivers restrained backing vocals on the second verse before letting it all hang out on the chorus."
Cillea Houghton from American Songwriter wrote:
"The bluesy tune proves that rock and roll and soul music can live harmoniously. Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger takes lead vocals while Gaga turns into a bonafide soul singer as Wonder shows off his musicianship by playing piano and the Moog synthesizer."
'Sweet Sounds of Heaven' is the second single from The Rolling Stones album 'Hackney Diamonds' out on October 20.

I hear the sweet, sweet sounds of heaven.
Falling down, falling down to this earth.
I heard the sweet sweetest sounds of heaven.
Drifting down, drifting down to this earth.
Bless the father, bless the son.
Hear the sound of the drums
as it echoes through the valley and it bursts.
Let no woman or child go hungry tonight.
Please protect us from the pain and the hurt.
Yeah. I smell the sweet scents the sweet scents of heaven.
Tumbling down, tumbling down to the earth.
I hear the sweet sounds, the sweet sounds of children.
And they're praising the land of their birth.
No, I'm not, not going down in the dirt. I'm gonna laugh, I'm gonna cry.
Eat the bread, drink the wine.
Cause [...] finally quenching [...].
You can't have a light without a little shadow.
Always need a target for your bow and arrow.
I want to be drenched in the rain of your heavenly love.
Let the music play loud, let it burst through the clouds.
And we all feel the heat of the sun. Yeah.
Let us sing let us shout. Let us all stand up proud. Let the old still believe that they're young.
Sweet sweet sound.
Sounds so sweet. Sounds so sweet. Heaven. Heaven. Falling down to this earth.
I hear the sweet sweet sounds of heaven. Coming down falling down to the earth. Oh yeah.
Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Hear the gods laughing from above.
Falling down falling down to this earth. Let me lay down and sleep. Heaven. Heaven.
