  3. Three days after the release of "Disease," Lady Gaga dropped the music video for the "LG7 " era lead single tonight, October 29. The horror-themed music video arrives just in time for Halloween. Click here to watch the music video. The video's choreography was directed by the Emmy Award-winning Parris Goebel, known for her work with Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez and Justin Bieber. Less than an hour before the video's premiere, Gaga posted a message to her Instagram story: "Disease is about facing that fear, facing myself and my inner darkness, and realizing that sometimes I can't win or escape the parts of myself that scare me. That I can try and run from them but they are still part of me and I can run and run but eventually I'll meet that part of myself again, even if only for a moment.
  4. The 'LG7 ' era has officially begun: "Disease," the lead single from Lady Gaga's seventh studio album, is out now. Click here to listen to the song. Now, after four long years, fans can look forward to a full-length album of original material in February 2025, per an article with Vogue.
  5. Not even one month after the release of "Harlequin," the promo for Lady Gaga's seventh studio album has already started. On streaming platforms, seven of Gaga's song titles were reformatted, seemingly overnight. Now, the seven deep cuts are stylized in all caps, with the exception of their first letter. Little Monsters caught that the lowercase letters spell out the word "disease." With only one Friday left in October, the start of the 'LG7' era seems more imminent than ever. Stay with Lady Gaga Now for updates.
  6. More than two years after its official announcement, “Joker: Folie à Deux” is finally out in theaters worldwide. The musical sequel to Todd Phillips’ Academy Award-winning “Joker” stars Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck/The Joker, and Lady Gaga as his love interest, Harleen “Lee” Quinzel. The film’s soundtrack, featuring new renditions of classic songs like Judy Garland’s “Good Morning” and Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life,” is also available internationally. The film saw its official premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival in September 2024, followed by premieres in London and Los Angeles. In an interview with Variety, Gaga described Phillips’ “big swing” with the film’s concept and script. “There’s music, there’s dance, it’s a drama,” Gaga said. “It’s also a courtroom drama, it’s a comedy, it’s happy, it’s sad. It’s a testament to [Todd] as a director, that he would rather be creative than just tell a traditional story of love.” Gaga and Phoenix performed the musical numbers live on set, accompanied by an off-camera pianist to keep their tempo. In an interview with Variety, Gaga spoke about how she altered her natural singing voice to fit Lee’s experience, as a character who would not be a professionally trained singer. “I’m a trained singer, right? So even my breathing was different when I sang as Lee,” Gaga said. “When I breathe to sing on stage, I have this very controlled way to make sure that I’m on pitch and it’s sustained at the right rhythm and amount of time, but Lee would never know how to do any of that. So, it’s like removing the technicality of the whole thing, removing my perceived art-form from it all and completely being inside of who she is.” Due to Gaga’s “really, really personal” experience with Lee, she still felt inspired by the character after filming wrapped, leading her to record and release “Harlequin,” a companion album to the film. “When we were done with the movie, I just wasn’t done with her,” Gaga told press at the London premiere. “So, because I’m not done with her, I made ‘Harlequin.’ ” “Harlequin” includes reimagined numbers featured in the film, as well as two original songs, “Folie à Deux” and “Happy Mistake.” Gaga performed the latter on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in Los Angeles earlier this week. 7. After last week's extensive press tour to promote "Joker: Folie Ă  Deux" and its companion album "Harlequin," Lady Gaga walked the black carpet at the film's Los Angeles premiere, hosted at the city's TCL Chinese Theatre. Gaga stunned on the carpet with bleached brows and a muted red lip. She wore a black, floor-length dress with an accentuated, puffy shoulder sleeve and a crimson red wig. She adorned the outfit with a red-and-green jeweled necklace, black earrings and, of course, her engagement ring. As she was fielding interview questions on the carpet, Variety asked Gaga when she'll do a "full-on superhero movie," leading her to react with a coy shrug. Gaga plays Harleen "Lee" Quinzel opposite Joaquin Phoenix in the sequel to 2019's "Joker," which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture. The two stars shared a hug on the black carpet ahead of the premiere. The official Los Angeles premiere comes after a series of screenings in Venice, London and a press screening in Los Angeles last week. Following the premiere, Gaga hosted a live taping of "Harlequin" with fans. While in Los Angeles, Gaga will film a performance for Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Oct. 1. "Joker: Folie Ă  Deux" hits theaters internationally on Oct. 4, 2024.
  8. Just three days after its official announcement, Lady Gaga has released her new album, “Harlequin.” Gaga first teased "Harlequin" with a series of cryptic Instagram posts, each with a phrase against a plain background: "I'm ready for my interview," "Don't tell me what to wear," "No duct tape no mission," "Moondust gets everywhere" and "Still not October," the latter being a reference to a post she made at the 81st Venice International Film Festival that revealed the lead single of LG7 is coming in October. On Monday, Sept. 23, mysterious billboards alluding to "LG6.5" appeared in New York City and Los Angeles. The next day, Gaga formally announced the album. “Harlequin” marks Gaga’s first artistic collaboration with her fiancé Michael Polansky, who is credited as a writer on four songs. In a white, embellished one-sleeve top, white bottoms, thigh-high white heels and a curly blonde-pink wig, Gaga took control of the stage with stunning vocals and a “reveal” – fake blood oozing from her heart. As she fell to the stage, covered in blood, she was joined by a crew of dancers. At the end, she was left dangling from a rope, blood covering her face and body – even getting in her eye. After the night was over, Gaga took home three VMAs: Best New Artist ("Poker Face"), Best Special Effects and Best Art Direction ("Paparazzi"). Revisit Gaga’s performance at the 2009 VMAs here:

  15. In a new interview with Variety, “Joker: Folie à Deux” director Todd Phillips revealed some new information about the upcoming film starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga. Phoenix stars as Arthur Fleck, the man behind the Joker alter ego, and Gaga stars as Harleen “Lee” Quinzel, a patient in the mental hospital Arthur is held at the start of the movie. Phillips said the goal of the movie is to make it feel like it was “made by crazy people,” which is evident from what little information is available. He details how the movie begins: It kicks off with a “Looney Tunes”-inspired cartoon before showing “prison riots, courtroom faceoffs and a variety-show sequence” that starts with Phoenix and Gaga as a homicidal Sonny & Cher. In terms of the characterization of Harley Quinn, Phillips said he wanted her to be manipulative and amoral, but also more grounded. “The high voice, that accent, the gum-chewing and all that sort of sassy stuff that’s in the comics, we stripped that away,” Phillips says. “We wanted her to fit into this world of Gotham that we created from the first movie.” Gaga spoke to Variety about Phillip’s ambition to outdo 2019’s “Joker.” “Todd took a very big swing with this whole concept and with the script, giving the sequel to ‘Joker’ this audacity and complexity,” Gaga said. “There’s music, there’s dance, it’s a drama, it’s also a courtroom drama, it’s a comedy, it’s happy, it’s sad. It’s a testament to [Todd] as a director, that he would rather be creative than just tell a traditional story of love.” Because they sang live as opposed to using a pre-recorded track, Phillips said he wanted Gaga and Phoenix to capture a rawer, more unstable sound than they’re used to performing, in an attempt to strike a balance between euphoria and despair. “We asked ourselves what would need to be true for two people to just break into song in the middle of a conversation?” Gaga said. “Where does the music come from when no one can hear it but the characters? Neither Arthur nor Lee are professional singers, and they shouldn’t sound like they are.” So far, there are three confirmed songs that Phoenix and Gaga perform in the film: “Get Happy” by Judy Garland, “For Once In My Life” by Stevie Wonder and “That’s Life” by Frank Sinatra. It has not been officially confirmed if Gaga contributes original music to the film’s soundtrack. While the film makes use of music, Phillips said he’s reluctant to call it a musical because, “Most of the music in the movie is really just dialogue.” “Joker: Folie à Deux" will premiere in theaters on Oct. 4, 2024. Stay up-to-date with Lady Gaga Now for updates on “Joker: Folie à Deux.”
