An intimate interview with Fish Fiorucci

On July 9th, 2019, Lady Gaga teased her upcoming beauty line titled Haus Laboratories with a mesmerizing fashion video on YouTube. "The last thing the world needs is another beauty brand... But that's too bad." she quotes. 
Haus Laboratories chose to aim far beyond the regular beauty consumer: "At Haus Beauty we say Beauty is how you see yourself." In the beauty video, we see Lady Gaga surrounded by the most peculiar and androgynous models, celebrating the diversity she always championed and supported since the early days of her career. 
While promoting Gaga's beauty brand on social media, I noticed a very colorful Twitter user commenting under our posts. I surprisingly found out that it was in fact one of the beauty models featured in the Haus Laboratories commercial!
After a quick follow back, I began talking with Fish Fiorucci: the non-binary "golden" model. After telling me they've been a fan of my page for quite some time, we quickly agreed to meet in Milan for a private and intimate interview just a few weeks later.
 
It's was a hot Sunday in Italy when I traveled from Rome to Milan to the photo studio where Fish was prepping for their upcoming fashion week. I stepped into a large private studio where the "golden" model was waiting for me on a cheetah print couch, next to two other artists, naked.
FISH: “Thats luke and our producer. We’re working on a big project. Our first together outside the US.”
After a few hand shakes and kisses, the two other artist’s gave Fish and I some alone time to speak about just how fabulous the shoot was.
I’m now sitting next to Fish while they’re smoking a blunt. The model would be totally naked if it wasn't for their black thong and a pair of 10-inch pleaser heels they through on specifically for this interview. I was still amazed by the size of the location and how filled it was by the many dresses floating from hangers with racks all over the room. I was in fashion heaven. 
MATT: “Wow it's a big production!”
FISH: “We try not to find time for small ones. Go big or go home.”
I finally take my laptop out of my backpack and began writing the interview. 
M: “So, <<Fish>>, that’s how I should refer to you as, right?”
F: “Yes. My pronouns are they/them.”
Being non-binary must expose them to a lot of unwanted and awkward questions so I understood easily that it was in everyone’s favor to respect Fish for who they are.
"Being non binary has given me the chance to feel comfortable in my own body."
M: “So Fish ...what an honor is to interview you, thank you for having me, I know you’re very busy.”
F: “Of course, thank you for being a trusted source for Lady Gaga news! I’ve been following you for years now.”
I wasn't expecting that. After all these years, it still makes me happy when someone recognizes me for all the work I’ve done.
M: “You are probably the most peculiar model’s in the Haus Laboratories commercial. What does being non-binary mean to you?”
F: “Being non binary has given me the chance to feel comfortable in my own body. A reason to quit asking myself why I dress and act the way I do.”
M: “How do you act?”
F: “Like a fucking fa**ot! But that's just me. I never want to be called <<a man in heels>>. I just want to be recognized as an androgynous human and not so much male or female.”
 
M: “You're very direct.”
F: “What I don't like is how people censor my directness and silence my personality. I enjoy being blunt and I enjoy smoking them too.”
M: “I’m sure you went through a lot to get here."
F: “It took around 10 years of manifesting and candle lightings”
Fish finally decides to get up and starts wandering around the room looking for clothes. They're very tall. Maybe twice my height. It's fun seeing them wander so light around the room even though they have heels as high as Gaga's. They must be a pro. 
F: “Would it be alright if I change? I have a shoot after this and need a new outfit.”
M: "Yeah, no problem. You don’t mind being naked in front of strangers?”
F: “Not at all! I like when people start questioning what kind of body parts I have. I’ve been banned many times on Instagram for posting naked photos of myself. But if I were a bigger celebrity, I'm sure It'd be alright. I actually have some old photos of myself naked, edited to look like Gaga's shoot with Eli Russell. Would you like to see them?”
They grab their purse from the couch and pick up the phone and start looking through their gallery.
"I was forced to act masculine at test shoots and meetings. It was a scary time."
F: “I was 18 at the time and was sexually harassed by this photographer.”
There is a slight silent moment. I'm surprised how they shouted it out so calmly.
M: “...do, you wanna talk about it?”
F: “It’s very common in this industry. It shouldn’t have to be, but sadly there aren’t enough rights in this industry to protect us from moments like this. I also think it’s great that my platform is growing now. I can speak about issues like this with no censorship. I’ve never been more encouraged to share my stories until now. Before it was a battle. The photos speak for themselves: my eyes are filled with sadness. I hated myself at that age. I was forced to act masculine at test shoots and meetings. It was a scary time. My innocence made it easier for people to take advantage of me. I know how to use my voice now. I just wish my agents taught me how to. This topic was just too taboo for them.”
      
M: “I believe it’s still taboo for a lot of young kids who want to enter this world.”
F: “It’s all a huge battle. Battle for your life! See what I did there?”
At first I didn’t get it, but then I remember the quote from the Haus Laboratories commercial. I wasn't really sure how to move forward about the last topic. I wasn't even expecting them to open up so much with me. Luckily, Fish was very joyful, and assured me everything was fine now. 
M: “How was shooting with Lady Gaga?”
F: "Who's Lady Gaga?"
I laugh.
F: “I thought this was a Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta fan interview!”
M: “Then how was being on the set with Stefani?”
F: “To be quite honest, it was probably one of the best things I’ve ever experienced in my life. I felt like a star! And to be working closely with one of the biggest pop stars of our generation made it even more worthwhile. I finally felt like I was in the right place at the right time.”
M: “So tell me more about the shooting day.” 
F: “I constantly found myself on set acting like a fool at times. I was just so starstruck. The cameraman would catch Gaga talking to me at times and when she would leave, I’d say <<do you guys know that lady?>> and would walk away with the biggest smile on my face. It was non-stop hard work coming from everyone. The energy was so strong and powerful. We had so much fun shooting on set. It was such a privilege to be working with the same people who created Gaga.”
M: “I bet you had so much fun that day. Is it “easy” to work with her?”
F: “Fashion isn't easy. Gaga isn’t easy. She’s advanced. If you thought the challenges on American Next Top Model were hard, think again sweetie. We were there to serve and the people were left FILLED.”
M: “It was hard, but it was worth it...?”
F: “From an artist point of view, I was blessed to be able to analyze every detail about the shoot. From the styling, casting and production, I left the shoot feeling inspired. From a model POV, it was a huge accomplishment. I like to consider myself more <<homemade>> than others, and getting this far was something I never imagined. I did it bitches.”
M: “That sounds like a dream, I bet THAT was a real huge production! ”
F: “The biggest. If I wanted a donut, I got my donut.”
M: “ ...and you also had Lady Gaga next to you. Do you remember anything funny from those days?”
F: “She smelled like miu miu perfume.”
M: “Is it a bad thing?”
F: “I smell like miu miu perfume now. I had to buy it.”
 
The other artist’s re-enter the studio. We talked so much that I almost forgot when they went out. They began unfolding dresses from a table near us, announcing that the other photographer would be coming and that we only had 10 minutes left.
"My plan is to advocate for mental health awareness while still being the queer genderless queen that I am."
F: “Before we wrap, ask me anything you’re dying to know.”
M: “How would you describe Gaga to someone who can’t afford to see her or might live too far?”
F: “She’s genuine. She’s a fucking hard worker and has a deeper appreciation for art than many other musical artists. She is God. You know what, I may sound cheesy but her music and persona are the reason I'm still here today. I've dealt with depression at a very young age and spent most of my nights crying and listening to her. I became a victim of her mind controlling music at age 11 and promised to sell my soul one day in return for fame. Gaga is my religion.”
M: “Before I go: what are you gonna do now with your life? What’s the plan?”
F: “It’s my goal to get famous before the year ends. I need everyone to know Fish before 2020 comes around. My plan is to advocate for mental health awareness while still being the queer genderless queen that I am. I’m a runway model with a loud mouth.”
M: “If you could speak to the world, what would you say?”
F: “Take My Picture, Hollywood! I Wanna Be a Star!”
The other photographer enters the studio. Everyone around me began running around meaning our time was coming to an end. As they began prepping dresses, getting make-up ready and adjusting lights I start packing my computer. It was almost time for me to catch my train. I hug Fish and thank them for their time. But before I go, I remembered a question I should have asked at the beginning of the day.
M: “Hey Fish, can I ask your real name?”
F: “No”
They ran away with a smile on their face and began fitting for their next shoot. A model on the run.

In an exclusive launch event in Los Angeles, Lady Gaga made a speech about makeup, mental health and what the brand means to her. In addition, she announced three brand new products; Liquid Eye-Lie Her, Eye Armor Kit and the Armor Masque No.1. 
Liquid Eye-Lie-Ner is described as a waterproof, matte black, flexible felt-tip eyeliner that brings any look to life. It is available for $20.

Tom Eerebout: 10 years dressing Lady Gaga

For the past ten years, Belgian stylist Tom Eerebout has chosen almost all the outfits the pop star Lady Gaga wore, each dress more extravagant than the next. We met the stylist during one of his few stopovers in Antwerp.
"Even on vacation, her looks are stylish."
"Do you see this one?", he asks showing us his tattooed fingers. "In England, we call them 'jobstoppers', and when I heard that, I had my knuckles tattooed right away to be sure that I'll never get a banal clerical job!" We are sitting in front of the Belgian designer Tom Eerebout. His job is definitely not ordinary. He has been working for Lady Gaga for ten years. He is the one who decides what the pop star wears, from the city to the stage.
Eerebout has been living in London for years now, but he recently bought a house in Antwerp: "It's an investment, to be closer to my family and (as a plan B) for the Brexit. It is right behind the Central Station".
We ring the bell but we will not cross the main door.
"My husband is working and our three dogs are here", he says, taking us to a cafÊ just a few steps away.
He orders a Vedett beer (for him) and a cappuccino (for us).
The last time he came to Belgium was seven months ago to pay a quick visit to his family. When you work for a pop star (who has since become a movie star), the working days are long and the miles are numerous.
"Especially when we're on tour, it's intense: working 18 hours a day is the norm!"
This fall, he will continue working with Gaga as the pop star is set to return to Las Vegas for her residency at Park MGM.
"In Vegas, my working days start in the morning around 10 a.m and last until 3 a.m the next morning. But my biggest stress is FedEx! Even though you've found the greatest outfit and claimed the exclusivity from its creator, it is a disaster if the courier doesn't deliver it in time.”
  “For the Venice Film Festival, Gaga had to wear a flamingo feather dress, but we were afraid the couriers wouldn’t deliver it on time, leaving us high and dry. To avoid that, someone went to Italy by car with the dress. In the meantime, I was flying with $2 million worth of diamonds in my carry-on bag."
Eerebout recalls this story :
“It happens often that we have to change Gaga during a regular flight. In this case, we ask to reserve the toilets and uncoil her dress with steam from the flight attendants’ kettle".
The stylist has an almost ordinary look, but his sneakers and his shorts look like more a holiday-outfit than a city’s.
"Usually, I’m pretty dressed à la Keith Richards : Shirt, jeans and boots."
It’s not for his looks that he is well known anyway, but for what he imagines for Lady Gaga, the Italian-American pop star who broke through with Poker Face in 2009 and recently won an Oscar for her role in A Star Is Born.
"All of her looks are absolutely stylish, even when she’s out of her house to get in the car. It’s a huge work, but my colleague Sandra Amador helps me a lot. For us, it’s almost a full time job."
"We don’t shop in stores, because Gaga only wears clothes that have never been worn before. These last months, she has worn pieces from a Winter Collection which is only available today. We have to arrange directly with the fashion labels and the Couture houses. I am also often approached by designers who send me their sketches;  I like it a lot because it gives me the opportunity to know new names."
"As a Belgian, I also try to use a lot from Belgian Fashion. Recently, Gaga wore a Bare ring, the brand of a young jeweler from Antwerp Dries Criel" entrusts the stylist. "For big events Sandra and I are in charge to look up the outfits, but during quiter periods we simply send Gaga a large suitcase of clothes, with a PDF of all the looks. ... and when she goes on vacation, we send her Bikinis."
"As a stylist, we can obviously have our own sense of style, but first and foremost we have to listen to our clients" he says.
"The outfits need to look like they’ve been just take out from her closet. I don’t have a recipe to capture Gaga’s style. There must always be a bit of madness."
"I am part of the ‘Haus of Gaga (the creative team around her). Just like me, most of the members have been working for her for years. We form a very big united family."
Throughout the interview, we are struck by his weird accent, summary of his journey. Born and raised in Bredene, on the Belgian coast he did some training in Bruges and then went at the Antwerp Academy, where he studied photography for several months.
“School was never my thing: I hate structures. When I stopped studying photography, I was lucky enough to find a job at American Apparel as a visual merchandiser. Responsible for the Benelux countries, I was often in Amsterdam".
After that he packed his bags and moved to Amsterdam, where he met Joost Vandebrug, a fashion and documentary photographer with whom he got married.
”Joost earned a contract with the prestigious agency ‘Art & Commerce’ for which he had to move to London. I followed him. However, I couldn’t find a job. Then I met Nicola Formichetti, who was Gaga’s stylist at the time, and I became his assistant in March 2010. I didn’t get paid that much, but I liked this job and I stayed. Four years later, when I had the opportunity to work for Kylie Minogue that I worshipped, I left Gaga before diving back in”.
“Working for Lady Gaga is my dream job: I work with pleasant people, I can unleash my creativity and it is different every single day. My dad had a hard time understanding that dressing up a celebrity could be a full-time job. For years, he pushed me into looking for a “real job”, but everything changed during Lady Gaga’s concert at Antwerps Sportpaleis, in 2018, when she dedicated a song to me. Finally my family acknowledged the impact my job had. Throughout the years, Gaga became a very good friend. Look. I did this tattoo with her”, he tells, showing us one of his ‘jobstoppers’.
From October 17th, Lady Gaga will continue her Las Vegas residency ‘Enigma’ at Park Theater.

LG6: Everything We Know (So Far)

It's no secret that Lady Gaga has been in the studio, recording her much-anticipated sixth solo musical release, the follow-up to 2016's Joanne. She has been extremely silent on the progress of the album; except some subtle teasings via Instagram posts, likes, mischievous exchanges with alleged producers, comments on social media platforms, interviews and even live shows. Check out everything we know (rumored and pretty much confirmed) about Lady Gaga's sixth studio album, below.
1. Lady Gaga's LG6 is in works at least for the past 2 years.
Back in August 2017, Lady Gaga revealed to Entertainment Weekly that she has already started working on her next album.
"I have started writing. I have a lot of ideas and a lot of things I want to create, so you'll see in a bit. I need some time to create." Gaga said.
During a show for the sold-out Joanne World Tour back in November 2017, Lady Gaga told to a crowd: "Sorry Joanne. Gaga's come out to play.", contrary to the usual tag line of the era "call me Joanne." This, for some fans, signified her transition from the pink hats of Joanne to the defining persona of her next body of solo work. 
2. "I am pregnant with #LG6"
On March 13, 2019, a petty Lady Gaga took to Twitter to respond to the tabloid rumors that she is pregnant. In her Tweet Gaga wrote: "Rumors I'm pregnant? Yeah, I'm pregnant with #LG6"
The tweet went viral with over 350,000 likes, and fueled the escalating buzz around the product of Gaga's recent, top-secret musical labor. Although fans have speculated that this might have been hinting at an album announcement or at best, a single drop on Gaga's birthday, March 28th, nothing really happened, as usual. 
3. G-A-G-A
What came as a huge shock was Gaga's unexpected decision to change all her social media pictures and layouts with an image of white musical notes reading "G-A-G-A" against a pitch black background (as seen below). 

Of course, fans immediately flooded social media platforms with unwarranted speculations that LG6 must be right around the corner. Although this has been overshadowed by the imagery of Lady Gaga's beauty line, Haus Laboratories, on Twitter and Instagram, the musical notes can still be seen as her Spotify profile picture to this day.
However, the post of the "G-A-G-A" tattoo she got on the Valentines Day 2019 again the style of the same musical notes sparked rumors of an upcoming self-titled album, as Lady Gaga is known to get a tattoo dedicated to each one of her studio albums. 
The name "GAGA" has also been teased by the Haus of Gaga member and Gaga's personal makeup artist Sarah Tanno, who used it as a caption to a picture of Gaga shared on Instagram, from a photoshoot that still remains unknown.

SOPHIE

Back in 2018, the Scottish electronic music producer Sophie has confirmed in response to a fan question that she has indeed been working with Gaga on new music: "Yes," Sophie says, "Whatever, you know. I am working on a lot of different things. If it comes out, that's cool."

The German techno producer has revealed to Boiler Room back in summer 2018 he has been in the studio with Lady Gaga, working on new music presumed to be for Gaga's upcoming LG6.
"She's down [with] techno. What's crazy, too, is she got into modular stuff now. I brought my modular system and she spilled water on it right away, but it kind of broke the ice I guess, and we wrote a f-ing hit! Now she's into modular. She bought a system, and I went back to Berlin and came back and she had a new system and we used that on some of the songs." Boys Noize explained.

The duo has also shared multiple sneak peaks into their top-secret studio sessions via Instagram stories.
Late 2018, the techno producer has revealed his contributions to the music and sound design of Lady Gaga's Vegas Residency Enigma, which partly explains the studio sessions the singer and the producer have shared throughout that year. However, it is highly likely that he also has been, and is, a key player in the shaping of Gaga's LG6. 
BLOODPOP

Fans that stuck through the Joanne era would remember that BloodPop has served as a co-writer and a producer on most of Lady Gaga's Joanne, including the Grammy-nominated hit single Million Reasons. It seems that the duo has been back in the studio, working on more music possibly for Lady Gaga's LG6. More recently, his music has been featured in the promo footage for Lady Gaga's beauty brand Haus Laboratories. BloodPop has also left cryptic messages to fan comments on Instagram posts implying that the music featured in Haus Labs promo might be a snippet into Gaga's LG6. 
The duo has been known to be working together since as early as December 2017, made official to the public with an Instagram story of Gaga from the recording studio posted by BloodPop.

It looks like Gaga has brought ARTPOP producer Madeon back on board for her upcoming musical project. The French DJ has previously co-produced three ARTPOP tracks: Mary Jane Holland, Gypsy and Venus. 
Very recently, in an interview with PopCrave, Madeon has shared some insight into the creative process of LG6. "The music she's making is the most Gaga she could make. The Canadian singer and producer is now being speculated as one of the producers/collaborators on Lady Gaga's LG6 after very recently, Gaga has followed Grimes on Instagram at the same time as Tchami.
Of course, we all remember that the importance of an Instagram follow as an indicator of someone's involvement in Gaga's musical endeavors was weakened by Rihanna, who was believed to be featured on LG6 after Gaga followed her on Instagram but denied the existence of a collaboration that might have been in works. 
HANA

The American singer, songwriter and producer is now rumored to be involved in LG6 after very recently Gaga gave her a follow on Instagram and liked one of her recent posts. Last year, BloodPop has also posted a picture of the musician playing with Gaga's dogs during one of their studio sessions, which has lead fans to think that her presence there might not have been a coincidence after all. 
5. Other Possible Collaborators
ELI RUSSELL LINNETZ
Last year, photographer Eli Russell Linnetz has worked with Gaga on a series of breathtaking images as part of a still unknown photoshoot. He was also involved in the development of visuals for Lady Gaga's Enigma Vegas Residency. However, the rumors on his role as an LG6 collaborator comes mostly from his unusual and cryptic replies to LG6-related Instagram posts and fan comments. 
MARK RONSON & DIPLO
Mark Ronson has previously worked with Gaga as a producer and a writer on 2016's Joanne, and more recently, on A Star Is Born soundtrack, especially the Grammy and Oscar winning hit, Shallow. The duo's recent history of musical collaboration has been enough to start fan speculations that he might also be helping on Gaga's LG6. However, earlier this year, a video posted by producer Diplo on Instagram stories showing himself and Ronson in studio mixing a beat over which a female voice, sounding a lot like Lady Gaga, sings has strengthened the connections between both producers and Gaga's long-awaited LG6. 
BENJAMIN RICE

The Grammy nominated record producer previously worked with Gaga on ARTPOP, Joanne and A Star Is Born soundtrack. Lady Gaga has very recently took to her Instagram stories to share a photo of herself from a recording studio.
This photo has then been reposted by the producer Benjamin Rice with the caption "#LG6🔥." The producer BURNS  has also commented on this photo, making fans think that both producers might be involved in Gaga's sixth studio album. 
This is all we know, rumored or confirmed, about Lady Gaga’s upcoming solo studio release. Enigma Returns to Las Vegas

Lady Gaga's residency Enigma and Jazz & Piano Engagement shows returned to Park MGM Las Vegas after a lengthy break of almost 4 months, on May 30th, on the same day as the opening of her "Haus of Gaga" exhibition in the same venue where the most iconic and memorable outfits, looks and props of her decade-long career are on display. 
Earlier in the evening, she made a brief appearance at "Haus of Gaga" to celebrate the opening with the attending fans and visitors, signing the wall right under the "Haus of Gaga" logo inside the store.
Later in the night, she put on, yet again, another stellar performance of her acclaimed Enigma residency, performing the same set, unaltered, as before. In a very sincere moment, she took time to send a message to a fan's boyfriend over FaceTime. While performing Judas, she almost fell while being taken off the robotic apparatus by her dancers. However, she continued her show immediately after without any interruption. 
On June 1st, she performed another night of her Enigma show, kicking the official Pride month off with a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community that has been supporting her ever since the beginning of her career. She picked up a rainbow flag, running around frantically, joyously and proudly smiling. 
On June 2nd, she performed her Jazz & Piano set to another sold-out crowd at Park MGM Las Vegas. This show gave way to several intimate and emotional moments during which she spoke about her failed engagement to ex-fiancÊ Christian Carino.
“Last time I sang this song, I had a ring on my finger. So it’ll be different this time” Lady Gaga announced before singing “Someone to Watch Over Me.”
After her show, she joined her friend and collaborator Brian Newman on stage for his late-night lounge gig "After Dark" at Las Vegas’ NoMad Restaurant inside NoMad Hotel at Park MGM. The duo performed 6 songs together which included “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love,” “Call Me Irresponsible,” “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood,” “Orange Colored Sky” “Ev’ry Time Say Goodbye” and “Fly Me to the Moon.” Lady Gaga belted out marvelous vocals, even at times without a microphone. After a few songs into the impromptu set, Lady Gaga asked for a chair to be brought onto the stage out of exhaustion and blamed it on "two and half hours of performing and five glasses of whiskey.”

Haus of Gaga opens in Las Vegas

Lady Gaga's much anticipated Haus of Gaga LV is officially set to open in Park MGM Las Vegas at 12pm, May 31st. Lady Gaga took to Twitter earlier today to post a brief teaser clip showcasing the interior of the space:
Haus of Gaga LV is described as an "evolving space that will transform visitors through the history and vision of Haus of Gaga, featuring exclusive merch and memorabilia." The space will, therefore, not only encapsulate the most memorable moments in Lady Gaga's career but also will house never-before-seen Lady Gaga merchandise for fans and visitors to purchase. The museum curated by Lady Gaga's fashion director and stylist Nicola Formichetti will feature a multitude of iconic outfits and props that Lady Gaga has worn throughout the span of her decade-long career, from The Fame until A Star Is Born.

PAPER: Lady Gaga's 2009 VMAs performance of "Paparazzi" is what really shifted her career. It's the moment the world realized she wasn't your average pop star.
Nicola Formichetti: We felt that, too. Being with her around that time — that's the first year we started working together, and it was incredible to see her on stage next to the other [famous] artists. That performance was unbelievable. I remember we were trying to figure out the blood coming out because we were all perfectionists, so we wanted the blood to come out at the perfect time, and we were backstage praying. [Laughs] But everything was perfect.
What were the conversations you had with her around the concept? Because bleeding and dying on stage is pretty extreme.
[Laughs] It was the idea of the fame that killed her, so it was quite theatrical. There were so many things going on: the choreography was incredible, her playing the piano really in the zone. We worked on the performance for a long time. We research a lot, and study a lot. There are spontaneous aspects to it, but we plan everything to be a perfect performance. The only thing we didn't want is the mechanical problems. That is the only thing we were praying for.
Famous pop stars at that time weren't taking fashion seriously. "Bad Romance," for example, premiered on the Alexander McQueen runway, which was livestreamed on SHOWStudio. That's what made your relationship with Gaga so special.
I come from the fashion world, so for me, when we started working together it was so normal to cover her in fashion. Because that was such a perfect thing, but that time there weren't people doing that. So I think it was such a special moment in the beginning, with [Alexander] McQueen and Nick Knight. She totally embraced that fashion culture, and she, in a way, made fashion alive. She kind of bridged pop culture and fashion and music. She opened the door for other artists to do that today, because today you have to work with fashion. It's all together. It has to be 360 [degrees]. But at that time, it wasn't like that. We started that.

When you worked with Gaga, did you design the looks to become iconic? They've all had such an incredible cultural impact.
No, she made it iconic. She performs in it; she becomes that [character] to make it better and take it to another level. She's very much a part of the creative process, and, of course, she's using her body and her face and her image. But she's very behind the scenes, as well — making things and cutting things, putting safety pins on, trying to make it better and new... And then we make it iconic [Laughs].
The Born This Way era was packed with so many different ideas, like in the 14-minute "Marry the Night" video. What was your approach?
We were looking at it as more of a fashion story in a magazine. Every shot is a different outfit. We really went into the extreme of it. That time was very important — the fashion and the photographers and film directors, from Nick Knight to Steven Klein and Inez & Vinoodh. We really worked with them to elevate the whole thing. It was like an orgasm.
Looking back on everything you created together, what was the hardest look to pull off?
Well, there's a red carpet — a red carpet, you get one chance, so it has to be perfect. It has to be 360 [degrees]. If you're outside with the hair, there's movement. The meat dress was exciting because I came in with a little fridge and Franc [Fernandez] made the dress, and it was inside the little freezer. Gaga's mom was like, "What's she wearing today?" And I was like, "It's in the fridge" [Laughs]. There was a message: We're all the same, we're all made of meat. This was an evolution of another outfit we did for Vogue Hommes Japan: The meat bikini, and then we wanted to do something a bit more red carpet-y with the same idea [Laughs].
The Monster Ball costumes specifically are so worn in. You can tell she really wore them to the near death. How did you make sure these looks withstood the drama? I know, we try to make it as comfortable as possible. But she cares about her fans so much, that if it looks good in the end, she's going to still wear it regardless. That's why we love her, because she commits. So our job is to try and make the most impactful [look], but also make it comfortable for her to perform in. But sometimes you can't get the effect [with comfort], so she'll be like, "Okay let's go!" But when she has to perform in that every night, sometimes it's very hard. Still, she commits and I love that.
Did these looks all come from an archive?
Yes, it's a very secured, temperature-managed, numbered archive in California.
Is there a full-time staff?
Of course, because we respect fashion so much. Also her props and all her gifts from her fans. It's all kept in a really beautiful space. 
Is Gaga as intense working with you behind the scenes as she is performing on stage?
Yeah, she's very much the same Gaga front and back. Also, I love the fact that she really respects artists and other designers. She's one of the first people to encourage me to do my own stuff. She's one of the reasons why I took [on being creative director at] Mugler. It's super fun when we work together. When I stopped working for her for a while, Brandon Maxwell took over and now Brandon is doing his own design job, and there are so many people coming out from Brandon's camp. We're all friends and still talk to each other, and I think it's super cool.
What brought you and Gaga back together?
I loved doing my own thing, I still do. I was kind of missing the performance aspect of it. We always kept in contact, but I think [Enigma], the Vegas show, was a good moment for me to start collaborating again, and now it's full on [Laughs].

As co-curator, how did you choose what made it into the Haus of Gaga Museum?
This place is ever-evolving. We want to switch things up, we want to keep changing. One of the most fun things we did was actually collaborate with her Little Monsters. That was very special for me. We contacted all the super fans, her Little Monsters, to initially get the vibe of what kinds of stuff they wanted to see. Which looks were their favorite, and also fact checking [Laughs]. They're so anal about the dates — Oh no, she wasn't wearing that shoe on that day — so we were checking facts with her Little Monsters. This space is for her fans, so I wanted to collaborate with her fans to give it back to them.
Looking at this museum today, with years of your work on display, how do you feel?
It's very emotional for us. There are so many memories. It's her life, it's our lives. It's almost like perfume — you remember that moment with a smell, it's very much like that. You look at it visually and you're like, Wow, I remember what I was doing at that time. For Gaga, it's difficult to choose favorite outfits because she always likes to move forward. She'd probably say the t-shirt that she's wearing [today] would be her favorite look right now.
That's very you.
[Laughs] We love what's next. It's interesting to look back, because we never look back. What we do normally is we'd probably style [these looks] differently and make something completely different out of the old stuff, right? But we didn't want to do that for this experience because we want people to feel that time. But we tweaked the space and made it more current, so it feels much more modern and also in-conjunction with the Enigma show. It feels quite digital. I think it's a very beautiful merge of the past and the future.
A museum is quite symbolic.
I know, when you start doing a museum it's almost like an end of the career. But [Gaga's] about to start. Of course, she's done 10 years, but we have so much crazy amazing stuff coming up this year and next year. It feels weird, but it's sort of like a nice 10-year stamp to say, Look what we did and thank you, in a way to her fans. But this is just the beginning, I feel. The movie [A Star Is Born] changed things completely. She just keeps surprising people.
Do you feel the pressure to continually top yourselves?
We don't feel that, actually. We always believe in our gut and we're pretty aware of what's around — what's cool and modern and new. I think we're okay. We have some stuff up our sleeves [Laughs].

Lady Gaga's MET Gala: Behind The Scenes

Vogue Magazine offers us a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes of the intricate process that culminated in Lady Gaga's epic, nearly 20 minute entrance at the Met Gala 2019 in a video recently posted on YouTube. 
In the video, we get a look into the creative process that went into the designing and the making of Lady Gaga's multilayered outfit as well as the rehearsal of the precisely calculated choreography that turned Lady Gaga's Met appearance into a live-action performance piece. We see the original sketches of the outfits designed by none other than Brandon Maxwell, who describes the entire process as simple and effortless due to the comfort of the decade-long friendship that he shares with Lady Gaga.

Lady Gaga also gives details into the various elements featured in her grand parade-like entrance that speak to the humorous and ironic nature of Camp. "It's not raining. So why there are umbrellas? Maxwell's 25-feet neon pink overcoat inspired the child-like attitude seen throughout the entrance, Lady Gaga says as she informs her dancers to channel their inner child and be themselves. Lady Gaga Co-Chairs the Met Gala

Last night the annual MET Gala took place in New York City, hosted by Anna Wintour and co-chaired by Lady Gaga, Harry Styles, Serena Williams and Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele. The event is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. This year, the event’s theme was Camp: Notes On Fashion, based on Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay titled “Notes on ‘Camp.’” 
"Campy" fashion is defined as "the love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration." It is daring, humorous, ironic, and extreme in its nature. Lady Gaga has always embraced the ideology of "Camp" in her love and understanding of fashion. Therefore, the co-chair was one of the most anticipated guests of the evening without a doubt.
Lady Gaga embodied the 2019 MET Gala theme like no one else. She made a grand 17-minute entrance, stepping out on the red carpet in a performance art piece making a series of outfit changes, joined by some of her dancers and members of the Haus. With the red carpet shut down for her entrance, she posed for cameras and walked up and back down the entrance stairs revealing a multitude of looks, some with props.
Her first look was a neon pink Brandon Maxwell gown with a 25-foot train, entirely cloaking the iconic steps of The Met. She completed the look with a pink bow-tie wrapped around her head, a platinum blonde wig and a gilded set of lashes of outlandish proportions.

Gaga’s second look of the evening was a black Brandon Maxwell piece which was revealed upon the removal of the pink cape by the designer himself. She used a black umbrella to accompany her look and the playful attitude that she maintained all throughout her marvelous entrance. She walked the steps up and down in the company of five dancers, makeup artist Sarah Tanno, hairstylist Frederic Aspiras, the designer himself Brandon Maxwell and a personal photographer to capture the every second of her brilliant live performance.

Returning to the entrance, she revealed a third look, emerging in a bright pink, body-hugging column dress and a Tiffany&Co butterfly necklace. She put on sunglasses and put on a humorous attitude while putting on lipstick and presenting to talk on her giant phone-purse. Again, she was accompanied by her makeup artist Sarah Tanno and hairstylist Frederic Aspiras who kept retouching her makeup and hair.

As the last look of her grand entrance, she stripped down to a crystallized, black bra and panties. She owned the carpet like no-one has ever before, laying down and posing on the steps as the camera lights kept constantly flashing on her.

Inside The Met, Lady Gaga gave us a brief yet a breathtaking artistic performance piece amongst the exhibition pieces of the Metropolitan Museum, serving looks and radiating campy confidence all throughout.

At the end of 2018, Lady Gaga has embarked on her acclaimed Vegas residency "Enigma" which has earned a total of $16,000,000 from its first 11 sold-out dates. "Vegas was once where music stars faded away. Now it's cool enough for Lady Gaga" was one of the many headlines in major news outlets which credited Gaga for revitalizing the once-dead Vegas scene.
3. WORLDWIDE CHARTS
As of today, Lady Gaga's "Shallow" has completed its 141st day atop the iTunes Worldwide Songs chart. A Star is Born Will Return to Cinemas Featuring Unseen Footages

A new version of A Star is Born will arrive in the American cinemas this week.
After its win at the Academy Awards, Warner Bros. has set a one-week release of "A Star is Born: Encore": a second version of the movie featuring 12 minutes new scenes and a brand new song called "Clover".
The “special encore engagement,” which will begin Friday, will include never-before-seen footage and extended performances of the opener “Black Eyes”; “Alibi”; and Lady Gaga’s Ally in her impromptu a cappella performance of “Shallow.”
The additional footage will also include footage of Ally singing “Is That Alright?” to Jackson Maine in the wedding sequence; Jack in his studio singing “Too Far Gone”; and Jack and Ally writing a new song together, entitled “Clover.”

Lady Gaga and FiancĂŠ Christian Carino End Engagement

Lady Gaga and her fiancÊ Christian Carino have split, her rep confirms to PEOPLE.
“It just didn’t work out. Relationships sometimes end,” a source tells PEOPLE. “There’s no long dramatic story.”
Speculation arose when fans noticed that Gaga was not wearing her engagement ring at the Grammy Awards on Feb. 10, neither did she thank Carino in her acceptance speech after her song “Shallow” won the best pop duo or group performance prize.
Carino did not attend the Grammys, even though he was by her side at various other events this awards season, including the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Golden Globes, as she’s made the rounds a various ceremonies for A Star is Born.
On Valentine’s Day, instead of sharing photos with her fiancé, the star revealed that she’d had a permanent piece of A Star Is Born inked on her body. Gaga debuted a large tattoo on her spine that pays tribute to her role in the acclaimed musical-drama.
“Happy Valentine’s Day. A tattoo toast to “la vie en rose” by the beautiful @winterstone my spinal cord is now a rose,” Gaga wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the completed tattoo of an intricate outline of a single rose on a long stem with the words, “la vie en rose” written in script beside it.
She also got the musical notes “G” and “A” on sheet lines of sheet music tattooed onto the inside of her arm, spelling out her name.
At Elle‘s 25th Annual Women in Hollywood Celebration at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles in October 2018, honoree Gaga revealed her engagement to Carino by thanking “my fiancé Christian” during her speech.
PEOPLE exclusively confirmed Gaga and the talent agent, were dating in February 2017 after the couple were spotted getting affectionate at a Kings of Leon concert that year.

Lady Gaga honours Bradley Cooper at the 32nd American Cinematheque Awards

Lady Gaga moved the audience of The 32nd Annual American Cinematheque Awards last night delivering her speech to the honoree of the night, none other than her A Star Is Born co-Star and director, Bradley Cooper.
In her speech Gaga reveals that while in public, Bradley referees to her by her stage name, Gaga. But in private and on set she was always Stefani to him, which sparked a wave of emotion as she recalled having to hide herself as Stefani for so long.
“I ran from Stefani for a long time. I put on a superhero cape and called myself Lady Gaga. You challenged me to deep dive into a place where I had to see her again, where I had to be Stefani again."
Also in her speech, she thanks Bradley for not only being a professional she can call on for advice, but for being a friend that she can cry with and be herself without ever being judged, claiming there will never be a director she will love like she does Bradley ever again.

2018 Patron Artist's Award

Accepting the Artists Inspiration Award for her philanthropy, Lady Gaga attended the SAG AFTRA Foundation's Patron Artists Awards in a full look from Christian Dior. Complementing her pale pink look, Sarah Tanno kept her makeup extremely light and Frederic Aspiras combed her natural hair into a simple updo.
Designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, who's Dior debut was just recently in 2017, Lady Gaga wears look 20 from the Fall 2018 Haute Couture collection. The collection was entirely devoted to the precious dignity of beautiful but quiet clothes, pieces sculpted and pleated and constructed which her dress exemplifies.
The strapless dress creates a beautiful silhouette with boning inside the bustier and a small belt around the waist. The skirt is finished with a flare that was tea-length on the runway but worn as more of a floor length gown on Mother Monster.
Paired with her Dior dress, Lady Gaga wore "Sweet-D Pumps" also from Dior in powder pink calfskin leather. The sling back pumps are complete with a bow along the side of the straps, unfortunately they are not available for purchase online. However, a shorter heeled version is available on Dior's website.
Finally, to accessorize her dainty Dior look, Lady Gaga added Peach Morganite stud earrings from Le Vian. Her exact pair are not included in Le Vian's online catalogue however.

A Star Is Born 2019 Awards Season Submissions

Warner Bros. has officially submitted A Star Is Born for consideration this upcoming Awards Season including The Oscars. The movies was suggested for 15 categories.
Lady Gaga has been sent for Best Actress, and the movie as Original Picture. Previously, three songs from the soundtrack were submitted for the Best Original Song category:  Always Remember Us This Way, I’ll Never Love Again (Film Version), and Shallow. But as of November 2, Warner Bros. has updated their Best Original Song submissions to just Shallow.
With three songs submitted, only two could be nominated for the Best Original Song category. With the slight chance of that occurring, the votes would likely be split against herself resulting in a loss which is most likely why Warner Bros. has decided on just one consideration.
The Official Academy Nominations will be announced earlier next year, but in the meantime we wish Lady Gaga and the rest of the cast the best of luck!

Lady Gaga: "Today I wear the pants".

Lady Gaga attended ELLE’s 25th annual Women in Hollywood event yesterday in Beverly Hills. She was one of many women honoured, along with fellow November Elle issue cover stars Shonda Rhimes, Sarah Paulson, Charlize Theron, Yara Shahidi, Angela Bassett, Keira Knightley, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong'o, and Mia Farrow.
Gaga walked the carpet in a statement piece by Marc Jacobs accompanied with Giuseppe Zanotti heels. She ultimately decided to wear this over-sized men's suit to make a stand against what Hollywood expects women to appear as. 
Mentioning in her speech below, she says:
"I tried on dress after dress today getting ready for this event, one tight corset after another, one heel after another, a diamond, a feather, thousands of beaded fabrics, and the most beautiful silks in the world. But to be honest, I felt sick to my stomach. And i asked myself, 'What does it mean to be a woman in Hollywood?' We are not just objects to entertain the world. We are not members of a giant beauty pageant meant to be pit against one another for the pleasure of the public. We, women in Hollywood, we are voices. We have deep thoughts and ideas and beliefs and values about the world and we have the power to speak and be heard and fight back when we are silenced."


Gaga made a long acceptance speech, opening up about mental health, her own sexual assault, and encouraged women to lift each other up using their voices. She also confirmed her engagement to Christian Carino following tons of speculation. Jennifer Lopez presented the award to Gaga.

The 'A Star is Born' Soundtrack will be released on all digital platforms and also have a physical release. The digital version will contain 19 tracks, and the CD will also feature additional audio from the movie. Pre-orders will be available from the August 30th, and the worldwide soundtrack release is scheduled for October 5th. There are no plans to release any single before the movie release, also scheduled for October.
