In a press statement, Gaga described the album's writing process as “reassembling a shattered mirror." “The album began with me confronting my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved," she wrote. "Even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can still create something beautiful and whole in its own unique way.” An official billboard appeared in Times Square with the announcement earlier this morning. The lead-up to the album's announcement started last week, when a mysterious countdown appeared on Gaga's official website. Upon scrubbing the screen, "LG1" appeared behind the site's background, in the signature font of "The Fame" era. The next day, the site's appearance changed, ditching the hazy blue background for a flowing black one. This time, scrubbing the screen revealed "LG2," in the font from "The Fame Monster" album cover. This continued until Monday, January 27, when "Mayhem" was officially announced. Gaga first teased her return at the end of the "GAGA Chromatica Ball" concert special in May, when a brief snippet of new music played beside the words "GAGA RETURNS." After teasing two new snippets following her performance at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, Gaga released "Disease," the lead single, on Oct. 25, 2024. In December, Gaga told the Los Angeles Times that "Die With a Smile," her Hot 100-topping collaboration with Bruno Mars, will be included on "Mayhem." The song has already exceeded 1 billion streams on Spotify.
  5. From recording a Grammy-nominated duet to starring in a highly anticipated movie sequel, Lady Gaga enjoyed a legendary year throughout the entirety of 2024. Here's a look back at some of her biggest successes this year. February Gaga finally learned what Fortnite is when she was announced as the game's featured artist on Feb. 22, 2024. Players were able to purchase the Chromatica Gaga Bundle, which featured perks inspired by Gaga's 2020 album "Chromatica," such as the Chromatica Armor outfit and "Rain Check" emote. Several of her songs were made available as Jam Tracks, including "Stupid Love," "Poker Face," "Born This Way" and more. She began teasing her return to music via Instagram, when she posted several photos from a recording studio. Gaga also graced the cover of EMPIRE Magazine, giving her first interview on her "Joker: Folie Ă  Deux" character. August On August 15, Gaga announced "Die With A Smile," her collaboration with Bruno Mars, which released alongside its video on that same day. The video features Gaga and Mars in matching blue-and-red outfits, performing the song on a mock studio set. Gaga joined Mars at his concert at Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California, to debut a live version of the song on its release night. The song debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, and has remained in the Top 10 of the chart since its release (with the exception of one week, when the Top 10 was occupied by holiday songs). September September saw Gaga in full-press mode to promote "Joker: Folie Ă  Deux," starting with its premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival. While in Venice, Gaga shocked fans by posting a picture of her itinerary to Instagram, revealing that the lead single from "LG7" would be released in October. In an interview with Vogue, she revealed the long-awaited "LG7" is coming in February 2025. Until then, she continued promoting "Joker: Folie Ă  Deux," attending the film's London and Los Angeles premieres toward the end of the month. The biggest surprise of the month, however, was the mysterious announcement of "LG6.5" on billboards in Los Angeles and New York City, alongside a series of cryptic posts to her Instagram feed. Soon after, the project was revealed to be "Harlequin," a full-length companion album to the film, released on September 27. The album contains 13 songs -- many of them covers, plus two original songs, "Folie Ă  Deux" and "Happy Mistake." The cover versions are featured in "Joker: Folie Ă  Deux," but were sonically reimagined for "Harlequin." Gaga rounded out the month attending a special "Harlequin" listening party with fans in London and guest appearances on "The Graham Norton Show" and Zane Lowe's Apple Music radio show. October October was a big month for Gaga. As "Die With A Smile" saw continued chart success and a nomination for Best Collaboration at the 2024 EMAs, "Joker: Folie Ă  Deux" and its soundtrack were internationally released on October 4. The film was made available for digital purchase on October 29. To finish its promotional cycle, Gaga guested and performed "Happy Mistake" on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" But, that was just the beginning. Seven of her song titles were reformatted on streaming platforms, with their titles in all caps aside from the first letter. These seven letters spelled out the word "disease." After Gaga posted a playlist titled ".COM," fans were quick to find that the secret message spelled "gagadisease.com." Upon visiting the website, fans were greeted with a lyric that, once searched, would lead to another website. After cycling through nine websites, it was revealed that "Disease," the lead single from "LG7," would be released on October 25. "Disease" marked a return to the dark electro soundscape explored on 2011's "Born This Way" album. Its horror-themed music video, released on October 29, showed Gaga on the run from a masked figure (portrayed by herself), and also featured a brief snippet of new music midway through the video. The same night as the music video release, Gaga dropped a live taping of "Die With A Smile," performed with Mars in Las Vegas. November Gaga kicked off the month performing "God Bless America" and "The Edge of Glory" at the final rally for US presidential candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris on November 4 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Days later, Gaga scored two nominations at the 2025 Grammy Awards for "Die With A Smile." Gaga and Mars' duet was nominated in the Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance categories. Later in the month, "Die With A Smile" became the fastest song to break 1 billion streams on Spotify. Gaga's headlining return to Coachella was announced on November 19. This will be Gaga's second time performing at the festival, following her headline slot in 2017. Two live versions of "Disease" -- "The Antidote Live" and "The Poison Live" -- were released alongside their in-studio performance videos throughout the month. Fans caught wind of Gaga's next acting venture once it was announced that she's joining the cast of the second season of Netflix's "Wednesday," after the show helped popularize the "Born This Way" deep cut "Bloody Mary" last year. Not much is known of Gaga's role in the series, but it is expected to be released in 2025. Additionally, Billboard named Gaga the fifth best pop star of the 21st century. December Gaga starred in "A Carpool Karaoke Christmas," the Zane Lowe-hosted holiday special on Apple TV+, alongside Dua Lipa and Chappell Roan. In the special, Gaga sang several songs, including "Disease," "Die With A Smile" and the holiday classic "Christmas Tree." Her rock-infused cover of "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town," which was also featured in the special, was released to streaming services at the same time. Gaga made another appearance in the Hulu-exclusive "Elton John: Still Standing," where she spoke of her personal relationship with Elton John and the influence he's had on her career. Then, Gaga made waves when her upcoming performance at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil was announced for May 2025. The performance is expected to be one of the biggest events in history, following Madonna's record-breaking show last year. Finally, to end the year, Gaga appeared in the Top 10 of several of Billboard's end-of-year charts: Top Dance/Electronic Artists (No. 3) Top Dance/Electronic Albums ("The Fame," No. 2; "Born This Way," No. 8) Dance/Electronic Albums Artists (No. 1) Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs (No. 3) Traditional Jazz Album Artists (No. 10) 2025 promises to be a big year for Gaga. Be sure to stay up-to-date with Lady Gaga Now for updates through the chaos.

  8. Even though she released no new dance music during the tracking period, Lady Gaga still has a heavy presence on Billboard's Year-End Dance/Electronic charts, as well as a Top 10 appearance on one of the year-end Jazz charts. Gaga landed at No. 3 on 2024's Top Dance/Electronic Artists chart, trailing behind Charli xcx and Dua Lipa, who both released albums earlier this year. Despite celebrating its 16th birthday this year, "The Fame" ended 2024 at No. 2 on the Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart, with Charli xcx's "Brat" taking the top position. The 13-year-old "Born This Way" checked in at No. 8 on the chart. Gaga topped the Dance/Electronic Albums Artists chart at No. 1. According to Billboard, this chart's ranking is based on an artist's chart performance on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, Top Dance/Electronic Albums and touring revenue. On the Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs chart, Gaga came in at No. 3, behind Dua Lipa and Charli xcx. Three Gaga songs landed in the Top 50 of the Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs chart – "Poker Face" (No. 12), "Bad Romance" (No. 24) and "Just Dance" (No. 29). Following the release of "Joker: Folie à Deux" companion album "Harlequin," Gaga ended the year at No. 10 on the Traditional Jazz Albums Artists chart. "Harlequin" placed at No. 17 on the Traditional Jazz Albums chart. "Die With A Smile," despite spending weeks in the Top 3 of Billboard's Hot 100 during the year, appears at only No. 62 on the year-end chart. This may be attributed to the tracking period for the year-end charts running from Oct. 28, 2023 through Oct. 19, 2024. Still, it ended the year at No. 25 on the Adult Contemporary Songs chart. Last month, Billboard declared Gaga the fifth best pop star of the 21st century. Click here to read their article reliving Gaga's career highlights.
  9. In an interview with Billboard, "Disease" co-producer Henry Walter aka Cirkut detailed the writing process for the song, as well as his experience working with the "legendary" Lady Gaga. Read some quotes from the interview below. Meeting Gaga: Cirkut was introduced to Gaga through "Die With a Smile" co-writer and co-producer Andrew Watt, who recommended they collaborate on the project. "So, I met Gaga for the first time in the studio, and it was amazing. I was really excited to work with her, we were off to the races as soon as we met." After being a fan for years, Cirkut said he was drawn to working with Gaga because, "She is just a legendary artist." "Selfishly, I did want to see what I could accomplish with her. Just the thought of wondering what a Gaga record would sound like if I produced it was really exciting from the get-go." Early stages of "Disease": Gaga was "instrumental" in early discussions about where they wanted to go with the sound. Cirkut said, "We all wanted to make something that still felt like it was decidedly Gaga, but always asking the question of, 'What does that sound like today?' " These ideas resulted in the "very aggressive" lead single from Gaga's upcoming seventh studio album, melding heavy guitars with a heavy synth-dance sound. " 'Disease' [is] a daring record to me. It’s very aggressive. I wouldn’t say it’s a safe, 'nice' song to ease you into things. ... It’s a very in-your-face kind of record," he said. "I wanted to make sure that we brought the essence of Gaga into this song and all of the things that are so great about her — the drama, the theatrics, that in-your-face sound — but still putting a fresh spin on it." In the studio: Cirkut described the "synergy" between him and Gaga when recording the song: "In the beginning, it is kind of a trial run [with a new collaborator]. It felt a little bit like she was feeling me out, trying to figure out where I was coming from when it came to production. But then there was kind of a breakthrough moment — I had been working through something over my headphones, and when I played it out loud, she was just like, 'Oh my God, Cirkut, that’s crazy.' And as soon as that happened it was like, 'Great, I got through to her.' " Cirkut teased the possibility that there's more to come of their collaboration: "['Disease'] was just one song in a collection that we worked on together, but fairly early in the process, we all loved it and knew that it would be some kind of cornerstone of this body of work." Why Gaga stands out among her contemporaries: Cirkut said Gaga's passion and interest in the sonics of her music separates her from the pack. "She would say, 'Maybe try a different drum here,' or she would hop on the synths and start playing things. She’s a musician and a visionary, and she knew all about the attack, decay, sustain and release settings on a synth. She is all about the details, which definitely sets her apart from a lot of artists." "Also, the passion that she puts into her work is amazing. She really lives and breathes and eats and sweats and bleeds this music." You can read the full interview here.
  10. Lady Gaga has released "Disease (The Poison Live)," a live-recorded rendition of the lead single from her upcoming seventh studio album. You can watch the live video below. You can stream this version and its instrumental on all streaming platforms.
  11. As part of Billboard's Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century series, the music publication declared Lady Gaga is the fifth best pop star of the past 25 years. In the article, writer Jason Lipshutz deemed Gaga a "game-changing phenomenon" who's "spent her career holding up fragile ideas of modern pop stardom and vigorously shaking them like a snow globe." Click here to read Billboard's career-spanning article on Gaga, and click here to listen to its podcast further breaking down her career thus far. To date, Gaga has 18 songs that cracked the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with five of those songs reaching No. 1: "Just Dance," "Poker Face," "Born This Way," Shallow" and "Rain on Me." Four of her songs made the chart's top three: "Bad Romance" and currently "Die With a Smile" peaking at No. 2, and "Telephone" and "The Edge of Glory" at No. 3. "LoveGame," "Alejandro," "Applause," "Million Reasons" and "Stupid Love" peaked in the top five. Six of her albums hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200: "Born This Way," "ARTPOP," "Cheek to Cheek," "Joanne," "A Star is Born" and "Chromatica." She is the fastest female artist to have six chart-topping albums, with nine years and two months between the peaks of "Born This Way" and "Chromatica." "The Fame" and "The Fame Monster" peaked in the Hot 200's top five, at No. 2 and No. 5, respectively. All of her studio albums hit No. 1 on their respective Billboard genre charts, the Top Dance/Electronic Albums and Top Jazz Albums charts. In 2023, "The Fame" made history when it spent its 500th week on the Dance/Electronic Album chart. The album continues its hold as the longest-running No. 1 album on the chart. In her 16-year career, Gaga has taken home 10 Billboard Music Awards, 18 MTV Music Video Awards and 13 Grammys, as well as an Academy Award for "Shallow." In 2009, Billboard named Gaga the Greatest Pop Star of the year, and in 2015, the publication deemed her Woman of the Year.

The horror-themed music video arrives just in time for Halloween. Click here to watch the music video. The video's choreography was directed by the Emmy Award-winning Parris Goebel, known for her work with Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez and Justin Bieber. Less than an hour before the video's premiere, Gaga posted a message to her Instagram story: "Disease is about facing that fear, facing myself and my inner darkness, and realizing that sometimes I can't win or escape the parts of myself that scare me. That I can try and run from them but they are still part of me and I can run and run but eventually I'll meet that part of myself again, even if only for a moment.
  15. The 'LG7 ' era has officially begun: "Disease," the lead single from Lady Gaga's seventh studio album, is out now. Click here to listen to the song. Now, after four long years, fans can look forward to a full-length album of original material in February 2025, per an article with Vogue.
  16. Not even one month after the release of "Harlequin," the promo for Lady Gaga's seventh studio album has already started. On streaming platforms, seven of Gaga's song titles were reformatted, seemingly overnight. Now, the seven deep cuts are stylized in all caps, with the exception of their first letter. Little Monsters caught that the lowercase letters spell out the word "disease." With only one Friday left in October, the start of the 'LG7' era seems more imminent than ever. Stay with Lady Gaga Now for updates.
  17. More than two years after its official announcement, “Joker: Folie à Deux” is finally out in theaters worldwide. The musical sequel to Todd Phillips’ Academy Award-winning “Joker” stars Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck/The Joker, and Lady Gaga as his love interest, Harleen “Lee” Quinzel. The film’s soundtrack, featuring new renditions of classic songs like Judy Garland’s “Good Morning” and Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life,” is also available internationally. The film saw its official premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival in September 2024, followed by premieres in London and Los Angeles. In an interview with Variety, Gaga described Phillips’ “big swing” with the film’s concept and script. “There’s music, there’s dance, it’s a drama,” Gaga said. “It’s also a courtroom drama, it’s a comedy, it’s happy, it’s sad. It’s a testament to [Todd] as a director, that he would rather be creative than just tell a traditional story of love.” Gaga and Phoenix performed the musical numbers live on set, accompanied by an off-camera pianist to keep their tempo. In an interview with Variety, Gaga spoke about how she altered her natural singing voice to fit Lee’s experience, as a character who would not be a professionally trained singer. “I’m a trained singer, right? So even my breathing was different when I sang as Lee,” Gaga said. “When I breathe to sing on stage, I have this very controlled way to make sure that I’m on pitch and it’s sustained at the right rhythm and amount of time, but Lee would never know how to do any of that. So, it’s like removing the technicality of the whole thing, removing my perceived art-form from it all and completely being inside of who she is.” Due to Gaga’s “really, really personal” experience with Lee, she still felt inspired by the character after filming wrapped, leading her to record and release “Harlequin,” a companion album to the film. “When we were done with the movie, I just wasn’t done with her,” Gaga told press at the London premiere. “So, because I’m not done with her, I made ‘Harlequin.’ ” “Harlequin” includes reimagined numbers featured in the film, as well as two original songs, “Folie à Deux” and “Happy Mistake.” Gaga performed the latter on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in Los Angeles earlier this week. 18. After last week's extensive press tour to promote "Joker: Folie Ă  Deux" and its companion album "Harlequin," Lady Gaga walked the black carpet at the film's Los Angeles premiere, hosted at the city's TCL Chinese Theatre. Gaga stunned on the carpet with bleached brows and a muted red lip. She wore a black, floor-length dress with an accentuated, puffy shoulder sleeve and a crimson red wig. She adorned the outfit with a red-and-green jeweled necklace, black earrings and, of course, her engagement ring. As she was fielding interview questions on the carpet, Variety asked Gaga when she'll do a "full-on superhero movie," leading her to react with a coy shrug. Gaga plays Harleen "Lee" Quinzel opposite Joaquin Phoenix in the sequel to 2019's "Joker," which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture. The two stars shared a hug on the black carpet ahead of the premiere. The official Los Angeles premiere comes after a series of screenings in Venice, London and a press screening in Los Angeles last week. Following the premiere, Gaga hosted a live taping of "Harlequin" with fans. While in Los Angeles, Gaga will film a performance for Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Oct. 1. "Joker: Folie Ă  Deux" hits theaters internationally on Oct. 4, 2024.
  19. Just three days after its official announcement, Lady Gaga has released her new album, “Harlequin.” Gaga first teased "Harlequin" with a series of cryptic Instagram posts, each with a phrase against a plain background: "I'm ready for my interview," "Don't tell me what to wear," "No duct tape no mission," "Moondust gets everywhere" and "Still not October," the latter being a reference to a post she made at the 81st Venice International Film Festival that revealed the lead single of LG7 is coming in October. On Monday, Sept. 23, mysterious billboards alluding to "LG6.5" appeared in New York City and Los Angeles. The next day, Gaga formally announced the album. “Harlequin” marks Gaga’s first artistic collaboration with her fiancĂ© Michael Polansky, who is credited as a writer on four songs. In a post to Instagram on Sept. 3, 2024, Gaga revealed her itinerary for her week in Venice – a welcome dinner on Sept. 3, the "Joker: Folie à Deux" premiere on Sept. 4 and a press junket the following day. At the bottom of the page, however, "LG7 first single" is listed as an important date in October. As of now, the title for the single or LG7 is not revealed.
