Lady Gaga to perform at L.A. FireAid Concert

Lady Gaga has been confirmed as a performer for the L.A. FireAid Concert, which will take place on January 30th at the Intuit Dome and the Kia Forum in Inglewood.

The event, which will be live-streamed, is expected to raise millions for disaster relief for the victims from the wildfires that devastated Southern California earlier this month.
Other acts including Billie Eilish, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gracie Abrams, and Green Day have been confirmed by TMZ as performers. Two dozen more acts are expected to be announced for the two concerts that will take place at the end of the month.
Tickets will go on sale on January 22nd at 12pm PST on Ticketmaster.

The free show, titled "Lady Gaga Todo Mundo no Rio" (Lady Gaga: The Whole World in Rio), will take place on Copacabana Beach on Saturday, May 3rd at 21:00. 'Die With A Smile' Hits No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100

Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars' record-breaking and chart-topping single "Die With A Smile" reaches No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the week of January 11, 2025.
"Die With A Smile" rises 16 spots in its 20th week of charting to top the Hot 100 after previously peaking at No. 2 for four weeks in November 2024. The single was the highest charting non-Christmas song throughout December.
The smash-hit marks Bruno Mars' 9th chart-topper in the US, while it becomes Gaga's 6th No. 1 hit, following "Just Dance" feat. Colby O'Donis (2009), "Poker Face" (2009), "Born This Way" (2011), "Shallow" with Bradley Cooper (2019), and "Rain On Me" with Ariana Grande (2020).
Gaga becomes one of the few artists with multiple No. 1 songs in three different decades and only the second female artist after Janet Jackson.

"Die With A Smile" previously topped the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. US charts for eight weeks in 2024, the second-longest running No. 1 of the year. It became the first song to earn over 100 million streams in ten consecutive weeks on the Global 200 chart.
The record-breaking song is also up for two GRAMMYs for Best Pop/Duo Group Performance and Song of the Year. Additionally it became the fastest song to reach one billion streams on Spotify and one of the top five longest-running No. 1 hits in the chart’s history, with over 100 days and counting.

February
Gaga finally learned what Fortnite is when she was announced as the game's featured artist on Feb. 22, 2024. Players were able to purchase the Chromatica Gaga Bundle, which featured perks inspired by Gaga's 2020 album "Chromatica," such as the Chromatica Armor outfit and "Rain Check" emote. 

Several of her songs were made available as Jam Tracks, including "Stupid Love," "Poker Face," "Born This Way" and more. 
She began teasing her return to music via Instagram, when she posted several photos from a recording studio. 
March
Haus Labs, Gaga's beauty brand, went live in European Sephora stores on March 26. Gaga joined beauty content creator Nikkie de Jager, better known as NIkkieTutorials, on a livestream to celebrate the expansion. 
Gaga also hosted an event on behalf of Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals to celebrate the innovative company's discovery of the first treatment for vitiligo, an autoimmune condition that causes loss of skin color.

The first official poster and trailer for "Joker: Folie à Deux," the sequel to Todd Phillips' 2019 film "Joker" starring Joaquin Phoenix, were released in early April, granting fans an early look at Gaga's character Harleen "Lee" Quinzel. 

May
"GAGA Chromatica Ball," a concert film depicting Gaga's sold-out 2022 show at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, was released to Max on May 25. Gaga edited and directed the film herself.

The premiere came alongside special Chromatica Ball merch and live viewing parties around the world. 

The film gave fans the first taste of Gaga's upcoming seventh studio album, as it ended with a short snippet of new music and the text "LG7 GAGA RETURNS." 
June
Gaga kicked off the eighth leg of her "Jazz & Piano" residency at Park MGM in Las Vegas on June 19. Gaga debuted new outfits and an unexpected rendition of 2011's "Americano," which stayed on the show's setlist through the summer. 

Additionally, she made a surprise appearance at a private event celebrating Summer Solstice in Nemacolin, Pennsylvania. She performed a full set, comprised of her hits like "You and I" and "Bad Romance" as well as classics "I Can't Give You Anything But Love," "La Vie en Rose" and Tony Bennett's "Steppin' Out With My Baby." 
Gaga also attended the wedding of her younger sister, Natali, on June 1. 
July
After wrapping the eighth leg of "Jazz & Piano," Gaga was announced as a performer at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France. She performed a special rendition of French singer Zizi Jeanmaire's "Mon truc en plumes" at the Olympics' Opening Ceremony alongside the river Seine on July 26. 

When in Paris, Gaga accidentally leaked her engagement to longtime partner Michael Polansky to the world when she was recorded introducing him as her fiancé to French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.
Later, she revealed she intended to keep the engagement a secret after Michael proposed in April. 
The "LG7" teasing continued, as after her Olympics performance, she posted a photo to Instagram Stories telling fans she would play a few seconds of "LG7" outside her hotel. The two snippets she played featured techno elements and were notably different than the one at the end of "GAGA Chromatica Ball." 
Gaga also graced the cover of EMPIRE Magazine, giving her first interview on her "Joker: Folie à Deux" character.  

August
On August 15, Gaga announced "Die With A Smile," her collaboration with Bruno Mars, which released alongside its video on that same day. The video features Gaga and Mars in matching blue-and-red outfits, performing the song on a mock studio set. 


Gaga joined Mars at his concert at Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California, to debut a live version of the song on its release night. 
The song debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, and has remained in the Top 10 of the chart since its release (with the exception of one week, when the Top 10 was occupied by holiday songs). 
September
September saw Gaga in full-press mode to promote "Joker: Folie à Deux," starting with its premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival. 

While in Venice, Gaga shocked fans by posting a picture of her itinerary to Instagram, revealing that the lead single from "LG7" would be released in October. 
In an interview with Vogue, she revealed the long-awaited "LG7" is coming in February 2025. 

Until then, she continued promoting "Joker: Folie à Deux," attending the film's London and Los Angeles premieres toward the end of the month. 

The biggest surprise of the month, however, was the mysterious announcement of "LG6.5" on billboards in Los Angeles and New York City, alongside a series of cryptic posts to her Instagram feed. Soon after, the project was revealed to be "Harlequin," a full-length companion album to the film, released on September 27. 

The album contains 13 songs -- many of them covers, plus two original songs, "Folie à Deux" and "Happy Mistake." The cover versions are featured in "Joker: Folie à Deux," but were sonically reimagined for "Harlequin." 
Gaga rounded out the month attending a special "Harlequin" listening party with fans in London and guest appearances on "The Graham Norton Show" and Zane Lowe's Apple Music radio show. 
October
October was a big month for Gaga. As "Die With A Smile" saw continued chart success and a nomination for Best Collaboration at the 2024 EMAs, "Joker: Folie à Deux" and its soundtrack were internationally released on October 4. The film was made available for digital purchase on October 29. 
To finish its promotional cycle, Gaga guested and performed "Happy Mistake" on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" 

But, that was just the beginning. Seven of her song titles were reformatted on streaming platforms, with their titles in all caps aside from the first letter. These seven letters spelled out the word "disease." 
After Gaga posted a playlist titled ".COM," fans were quick to find that the secret message spelled "gagadisease.com." Upon visiting the website, fans were greeted with a lyric that, once searched, would lead to another website. After cycling through nine websites, it was revealed that "Disease," the lead single from "LG7," would be released on October 25. 

"Disease" marked a return to the dark electro soundscape explored on 2011's "Born This Way" album. Its horror-themed music video, released on October 29, showed Gaga on the run from a masked figure (portrayed by herself), and also featured a brief snippet of new music midway through the video. 

The same night as the music video release, Gaga dropped a live taping of "Die With A Smile," performed with Mars in Las Vegas. 

November
Gaga kicked off the month performing "God Bless America" and "The Edge of Glory" at the final rally for US presidential candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris on November 4 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 

Days later, Gaga scored two nominations at the 2025 Grammy Awards for "Die With A Smile." Gaga and Mars' duet was nominated in the Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance categories. 
Later in the month, "Die With A Smile" became the fastest song to break 1 billion streams on Spotify. 
Gaga's headlining return to Coachella was announced on November 19. This will be Gaga's second time performing at the festival, following her headline slot in 2017. 
Two live versions of "Disease" -- "The Antidote Live" and "The Poison Live" -- were released alongside their in-studio performance videos throughout the month. 


Fans caught wind of Gaga's next acting venture once it was announced that she's joining the cast of the second season of Netflix's "Wednesday," after the show helped popularize the "Born This Way" deep cut "Bloody Mary" last year. Not much is known of Gaga's role in the series, but it is expected to be released in 2025. 
Additionally, Billboard named Gaga the fifth best pop star of the 21st century. 
December
Gaga starred in "A Carpool Karaoke Christmas," the Zane Lowe-hosted holiday special on Apple TV+, alongside Dua Lipa and Chappell Roan. In the special, Gaga sang several songs, including "Disease," "Die With A Smile" and the holiday classic "Christmas Tree."

Her rock-infused cover of "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town," which was also featured in the special, was released to streaming services at the same time. 

Gaga made another appearance in the Hulu-exclusive "Elton John: Still Standing," where she spoke of her personal relationship with Elton John and the influence he's had on her career. 
Then, Gaga made waves when her upcoming performance at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil was announced for May 2025. The performance is expected to be one of the biggest events in history, following Madonna's record-breaking show last year.

Lady Gaga has been confirmed as the next artist to perform on Copacabana Beach in 2025.
During a press conference for the 2025 Events Agenda, the organizers of events in the Latin American city confirmed the highly anticipated return of Lady Gaga to Rio de Janeiro in May 2025. She will hold a free concert on Copacabana Beach, just as Madonna did last year.
This marks the return of the star since her last visit in 2012 and is expected to be one of the biggest events in history.

Lady Gaga Talks LG7 And Coachella for LA Times

Lady Gaga recently spoke with the Los Angeles Times about her incredible year, touching on the massive success of her chart-topping single, "Die With A Smile", and the buzz surrounding her latest project, Harlequin. She also shared her excitement about headlining Coachella and teased her highly anticipated upcoming album.
Here’s a sneak peek from the interview.
Lady Gaga, who’s 38 and engaged to tech entrepreneur Michael Polansky, spoke about the song — as well as the upcoming album that her fans refer to as LG7 and her booking as a headliner at next year’s Coachella festival — between video shoots this week at a Santa Monica recording studio. She was wearing an elaborate white gown with a long train and pointy shoulders, and her braided blond hair was tucked beneath a headband for a vaguely “Midsommar”-ish look.
My understanding is that “Die With a Smile” grew out of a late-night phone call from Bruno.
We had been talking about working together, and we were trying to figure out what we were gonna do. He called me and he said, “I have this idea.” I really wanted to hear what he was doing, so I went over there really late and he played me the start of this idea. He had a couple different ideas, but I said, “This one is a love song — I think people would love to hear us do a love song.”
Is the song connected to whatever’s happening on LG7?
Absolutely. “Die With a Smile” is on my record — it’s a huge part of my album. It was like this missing piece. The record is full of my love of music — so many different genres, so many different styles, so many different dreams. It leaps around genre in a way that’s almost corrupt. And it ends with love. That’s the answer to all the chaos in my life is that I find peace with love. Every song that I wrote, I just kept getting kind of swept away in these different dreams I was having about the past — almost like a recollection of all these bad decisions that I made in my life. But it ends in this very happy place.
You’ve returned to ballads regularly throughout your career.
I’m thinking of one record I didn’t put on my [upcoming] album that’s actually… I might put it out so I don’t want to share the name. You almost got me [laughs]. It’s actually very fragile and not big — one of the first times I’ve ever done that. But I like big ballads. You can sing along about love in a big way. I love emotional, dramatic music, whether it’s James Taylor and Carole King or it’s David Lee Roth.
You’re headlining Coachella in April, which will be your second time there after performing in 2017. When the announcement came out, you said, “I’ve had a vision I’ve never been able to fully realize at Coachella” and that you’ve “been wanting to go back and to do it right.” Can you elaborate?
Well, for reasons totally outside of my control, there was a cancellation —
Beyoncé pulled out in 2017 because she was pregnant, and you stepped in.
I really wanted to be there for music fans, and at the time there was all this excitement to be able to film bits of “A Star Is Born” at Coachella. But I only had two weeks [to prepare for the show]. And so to design a stage, to have it made, all of those things — I didn’t have the time to totally do what I really wanted to do. I love music. I love performing. I love music fans. And I was so excited to film pieces of our movie there. So I did it, and I loved it. But you know when you have a vision in your mind of how you want to do something? It’s time to make it happen.
There’s something slightly manic to my ears about “Harlequin.”
“Manic” is the right word. There’s surf-punk influence on the album. There’s doom-jazz influence on the album. There’s New Orleans influence on the album. It was through the lens of a woman that wants to be whoever she wants whenever she feels like it — a woman that will light the stage on fire if she feels like it. In a way, it was kind of defiant: When I’ve sung jazz for most of my career, I think that some people really loved it and other people never understood why I deviated to other genres. The beauty of why I make records is I love learning about music. I loved working with Tony. I loved making “Harlequin.” I loved collaborating with all the DJs and Gesaffelstein on my new album. I loved learning about industrial music and about all the different crevices of electronic music, and then I loved working with Bruno. One of the things I’ve probably been judged for in my career was not sticking to one thing. But not sticking to one thing is my life force.

Even though she released no new dance music during the tracking period, Lady Gaga still has a heavy presence on Billboard's Year-End Dance/Electronic charts, as well as a Top 10 appearance on one of the year-end Jazz charts. 
Gaga landed at No. 3 on 2024's Top Dance/Electronic Artists chart, trailing behind Charli xcx and Dua Lipa, who both released albums earlier this year. 
Despite celebrating its 16th birthday this year, "The Fame" ended 2024 at No. 2 on the Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart, with Charli xcx's "Brat" taking the top position. The 13-year-old "Born This Way" checked in at No. 8 on the chart. 


Gaga topped the Dance/Electronic Albums Artists chart at No. 1. According to Billboard, this chart's ranking is based on an artist's chart performance on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, Top Dance/Electronic Albums and touring revenue.
On the Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs chart, Gaga came in at No. 3, behind Dua Lipa and Charli xcx. 
Three Gaga songs landed in the Top 50 of the Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs chart – "Poker Face" (No. 12), "Bad Romance" (No. 24) and "Just Dance" (No. 29). 
Following the release of "Joker: Folie à Deux" companion album "Harlequin," Gaga ended the year at No. 10 on the Traditional Jazz Albums Artists chart. "Harlequin" placed at No. 17 on the Traditional Jazz Albums chart. 

"Die With A Smile," despite spending weeks in the Top 3 of Billboard's Hot 100 during the year, appears at only No. 62 on the year-end chart. This may be attributed to the tracking period for the year-end charts running from Oct. 28, 2023 through Oct. 19, 2024. Still, it ended the year at No. 25 on the Adult Contemporary Songs chart.

Lady Gaga Appears In New Special "Elton John: Still Standing"

Lady Gaga appears in IMPACT x Nightline's new Elton John documentary special "Elton John: Still Standing," now streaming exclusively on Hulu.
Across several segments, Gaga speaks about her personal relationship with Elton and the influence he's had on her career. "Elton's talent is really unparalleled," Gaga says in the opening. "There will never be another."
Gaga discusses her performance of "Speechless" and "Your Song" with Elton at the 2010 GRAMMYs, saying the latter is her favorite Elton song of all time. "That moment, playing with him meant so much to me." She goes on to say that the performance marked the moment she knew the two would become friends.

Gaga, one of Elton's closest friends and Godmother to his children, also speaks about her relationship with his family. Cirkut Details Working with Lady Gaga on 'Disease' in New Interview

In an interview with Billboard, "Disease" co-producer Henry Walter aka Cirkut detailed the writing process for the song, as well as his experience working with the "legendary" Lady Gaga.

Meeting Gaga:
Cirkut was introduced to Gaga through "Die With a Smile" co-writer and co-producer Andrew Watt, who recommended they collaborate on the project. "So, I met Gaga for the first time in the studio, and it was amazing. I was really excited to work with her, we were off to the races as soon as we met."
After being a fan for years, Cirkut said he was drawn to working with Gaga because, "She is just a legendary artist."
"Selfishly, I did want to see what I could accomplish with her. Just the thought of wondering what a Gaga record would sound like if I produced it was really exciting from the get-go."

Early stages of "Disease":
Gaga was "instrumental" in early discussions about where they wanted to go with the sound. Cirkut said, "We all wanted to make something that still felt like it was decidedly Gaga, but always asking the question of, 'What does that sound like today?' "
These ideas resulted in the "very aggressive" lead single from Gaga's upcoming seventh studio album, melding heavy guitars with a heavy synth-dance sound. 
" 'Disease' [is] a daring record to me. It’s very aggressive. I wouldn’t say it’s a safe, 'nice' song to ease you into things. ... It’s a very in-your-face kind of record," he said. 
"I wanted to make sure that we brought the essence of Gaga into this song and all of the things that are so great about her — the drama, the theatrics, that in-your-face sound — but still putting a fresh spin on it."

In the studio: 
Cirkut described the "synergy" between him and Gaga when recording the song:
"In the beginning, it is kind of a trial run [with a new collaborator]. It felt a little bit like she was feeling me out, trying to figure out where I was coming from when it came to production. But then there was kind of a breakthrough moment — I had been working through something over my headphones, and when I played it out loud, she was just like, 'Oh my God, Cirkut, that’s crazy.' And as soon as that happened it was like, 'Great, I got through to her.' "
Cirkut teased the possibility that there's more to come of their collaboration: "['Disease'] was just one song in a collection that we worked on together, but fairly early in the process, we all loved it and knew that it would be some kind of cornerstone of this body of work." 

Why Gaga stands out among her contemporaries: 
Cirkut said Gaga's passion and interest in the sonics of her music separates her from the pack. 
"She would say, 'Maybe try a different drum here,' or she would hop on the synths and start playing things. She’s a musician and a visionary, and she knew all about the attack, decay, sustain and release settings on a synth. She is all about the details, which definitely sets her apart from a lot of artists."
"Also, the passion that she puts into her work is amazing. She really lives and breathes and eats and sweats and bleeds this music."

Lady Gaga discussed details about her new single "Disease" and her upcoming 7th studio album in a new interview with Vogue.
In the interview, Gaga talks about the new guitar version of LG7 lead single "Disease": "After I spent some time on the production for The Antidote Live—which was built around me at the piano—I started thinking about how I may go even deeper," she says. "I wondered if we took some of the electric guitar energy that’s on the pop version and stripped it back—would I find another level to the song? And I did."
Gaga also revealed new details about LG7, which is due out in February 2025: "The album is chaotic from a genre perspective. […] In that way, this album is a celebration of a lot of the music that made me who I am, because when I returned to a darker pop style of pop, all my early  experiences with music came out. [...] The album is not extremely serious in that its very fun and meant to be  enjoyed at a party, in a club, or at home having personal fun time to be free of your worries at home or walking through life."

Lady Gaga To Headline Coachella 2025

Lady Gaga will headline the Coachella Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California on April 11th and 18th, 2025.
This will be the second time Gaga has performed at the festival, following her headlining slot in 2017 when she replaced Beyoncé. She became the second female headliner in the festival’s history, after Björk in 2007. Lady Gaga performed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at a rally for Democratic presidential nominee and current-Vice President Kamala Harris, a day ahead of the U.S. presidential election.

In 2023, Biden appointed Gaga as the co-chair of the Committee on the Arts the Humanities, a board that advises the White House on matters of cultural policy.
