‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ Soundtrack Available for Pre-Order

The official soundtrack for "Joker: Folie Ă  Deux" is now available for pre-order on vibrant red vinyl and classic CD.

The soundtrack, which will include 16 tracks, is produced by Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga, and Jason Ruder, with executive producers Phoenix, Gaga, director Todd Phillips, Randall Poster & George Drakoulias.
Its track list will feature music performed by the film's cast, including Phoenix and Gaga. It is not confirmed whether Gaga contributes original music to the film. 
The soundtrack is set for release the same day as the film, Oct. 4, 2024.

Lady Gaga Arrives in Italy for Venice Film Festival

Lady Gaga arrived in Venice, Italy today, ahead of the premiere of “Joker: Folie à Deux” at the 81st Venice International Film Festival. 

Gaga was seen arriving at her hotel with her fiancÊe Michael Polanski, with Gaga wearing a polka dot dress.
After smiling for paparazzi photos, the couple shared a kiss outside the hotel.
Gaga's arrival comes two days before the premiere of “Joker: Folie à Deux" at the Venice Film Festival on Sept. 4. The festival began on Aug. 28 and will conclude with its awards ceremony on Sept. 7, 2024.
This isn’t director Todd Phillip’s first time in competition at the Venice Film Festival. In 2019, he was awarded the Golden Lion, the most prestigious award of the festival, for “Joker.” 

Gaga last appeared at the festival for the premiere of “A Star is Born” in 2018.

New 'Joker: Folie Ă  Deux' Teaser Drops

A new promotional trailer for “Joker: Folie à Deux,” starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, was released today, Aug. 30, 2024.
 
 
The 30-second teaser dropped five days before the film's premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 4, 2024.
In the teaser, Gaga says, "You're Joker," and "I'd do anything for you."
Gaga and Phoenix star as Harleen "Lee" Quinzel and Arthur Fleck in the genre-bending sequel to Todd Phillip's 2019 film "Joker." 
So far, there are three confirmed songs that Phoenix and Gaga perform in the film: “Get Happy” by Judy Garland, “For Once In My Life” by Stevie Wonder and “That’s Life” by Frank Sinatra. It has not been officially confirmed if Gaga contributes original music to the film’s soundtrack. 
The film will receive a widespread release on Oct. 4, 2024.

The Most Iconic Performance category features seven performances across the history of the VMAs, from the 1980s to today.

After the night was over, Gaga took home three VMAs: Best New Artist ("Poker Face"), Best Special Effects and Best Art Direction ("Paparazzi").

'Die With A Smile' Debuts at No. 3 on Billboard Hot 100

Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars' latest streaming hit "Die With a Smile" debuted at No. 3 on this week's Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
After continuously beating new streaming records on Spotify and a No. 7 debut on the UK charts, the power ballad by Gaga and Mars made its U.S. chart debut this week.

Gaga has amassed five No. 1 singles "Just Dance," "Poker Face," "Born This Way," "Shallow" and "Rain On Me" through her career, while Bruno has eight, as of now.
"Die With a Smile" debuting at No. 3 marks Gaga's 18th Top 10 single and highest charting song since Chromatica's "Rain On Me" with Ariana Grande.
Since its release on Aug. 16, "Die With a Smile" also cracked the Top 10 in Australia and New Zealand.

'Die With A Smile' Cracks U.K. Top 10, rises on streaming charts

A week after its release, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ collaboration “Die With a Smile” enjoyed a successful week on charts around the world.
The song debuted at No. 7 on the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart. It is Gaga’s first Top 10 entry on the chart since “Rain on Me” featuring Ariana Grande hit No. 1 in 2020. 
 
 
Prior to “Die With a Smile” Gaga’s last entry on the Official Singles Chart was “Bloody Mary,” at the end of 2022. 
In addition to the official U.K. chart, “Die With a Smile” charted in the Top 20 in Australia, Finland, New Zealand, Norway and on Japan’s Hot Overseas chart. 
“Die With a Smile” was playlisted on Spotify’s “Today’s Top Hits” playlist, which features the platform’s hottest 50 tracks. Gaga and Bruno appear on the cover for the playlist. 
 
 
It peaked at No. 1 on the U.S. Spotify charts with, at the time, 2.2 million streams. As of Aug. 23, 2024, the song peaked at No. 2 on Spotify’s Global Top 50. 
Currently, the song has over 45 million streams on Spotify.
On Apple Music, the collaboration reached No. 1 on the Top 100: Global chart. 
 
 
While the tracking period for the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 ended yesterday, Aug. 22, the chart will update next Tuesday, Aug. 27. 
According to Talk of the Charts, the song is on pace for a No. 1 debut on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart. 
 
 
On YouTube, the music video amassed over 21 million views in seven days. As of Aug. 23, it is No. 3 on YouTube's Trending for music.

'Joker' Director Reveals New Details About 'Folie Ă  Deux'

In a new interview with Variety, “Joker: Folie à Deux” director Todd Phillips revealed some new information about the upcoming film starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga. 
Phoenix stars as Arthur Fleck, the man behind the Joker alter ego, and Gaga stars as Harleen “Lee” Quinzel, a patient in the mental hospital Arthur is held at the start of the movie. 
Phillips said the goal of the movie is to make it feel like it was “made by crazy people,” which is evident from what little information is available. 
He details how the movie begins: It kicks off with a “Looney Tunes”-inspired cartoon before showing “prison riots, courtroom faceoffs and a variety-show sequence” that starts with Phoenix and Gaga as a homicidal Sonny & Cher. 

In terms of the characterization of Harley Quinn, Phillips said he wanted her to be manipulative and amoral, but also more grounded. 
“The high voice, that accent, the gum-chewing and all that sort of sassy stuff that’s in the comics, we stripped that away,” Phillips says. “We wanted her to fit into this world of Gotham that we created from the first movie.”
Gaga spoke to Variety about Phillip’s ambition to outdo 2019’s “Joker.” 
“Todd took a very big swing with this whole concept and with the script, giving the sequel to ‘Joker’ this audacity and complexity,” Gaga said. “There’s music, there’s dance, it’s a drama, it’s also a courtroom drama, it’s a comedy, it’s happy, it’s sad. It’s a testament to [Todd] as a director, that he would rather be creative than just tell a traditional story of love.”
Because they sang live as opposed to using a pre-recorded track, Phillips said he wanted Gaga and Phoenix to capture a rawer, more unstable sound than they’re used to performing, in an attempt to strike a balance between euphoria and despair. 
 
 
“We asked ourselves what would need to be true for two people to just break into song in the middle of a conversation?” Gaga said. “Where does the music come from when no one can hear it but the characters? Neither Arthur nor Lee are professional singers, and they shouldn’t sound like they are.”
So far, there are three confirmed songs that Phoenix and Gaga perform in the film: “Get Happy” by Judy Garland, “For Once In My Life” by Stevie Wonder and “That’s Life” by Frank Sinatra. It has not been officially confirmed if Gaga contributes original music to the film’s soundtrack. 
While the film makes use of music, Phillips said he’s reluctant to call it a musical because, “Most of the music in the movie is really just dialogue.”  
“Joker: Folie à Deux" will premiere in theaters on Oct. 4, 2024.

Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars have released the music video for their collaboration “Die With a Smile.”
The video, directed by Daniel Ramos and Bruno Mars, features Gaga and Bruno in matching blue-and-red outfits, performing the duet on a mock studio set. Backed by a full band, Bruno plays the guitar and Gaga smokes a cigarette at the piano.

Lady Gaga Teases New Music and Debuts Black Hairstyle

Nearly three months after announcing "GAGA RETURNS," Lady Gaga continues to tease new music from a forthcoming project.
On August 13, 2024, Gaga posted a short video of her playing the piano in Bruno Mars merchandise, captioned with a black heart and piano emoji.
 
 
While not officially confirmed, Gaga and Bruno have been interacting on social media all week, leading fans to believe a collaboration may be on the way. 
After Gaga's video showed her in a Bruno Mars T-shirt, Bruno posted a photo to his Instagram wearing Gaga's merch – featuring a T-shirt with an artist's rendition of Gaga's "Born This Way" skeleton look. 
 
 
It is unclear whether the collaboration would appear on Gaga's or Bruno's upcoming project. 
In addition to this week's piano snippet, Gaga has debuted three studio snippets to date. The first came in May, at the end of the "GAGA Chromatica Ball" film, aptly called "Dance in the Shadow" by fans. 
The other two snippets, played for Paris fans after her performance at the 2024 Summer Olympics, had a similar heavy, dark sound, most reminiscent of the "Born This Way" era. 
 
 
Despite being a blonde through the eighth leg of her "Jazz & Piano" residency and her Olympics performance, Gaga showed off a darker look on social media this week.

After announcing on her Instagram story, Lady Gaga stepped outside her Paris hotel and shared a preview of her highly anticipated new album, LG7.

Gaga had a busy day, watching the Olympics live with her fiancĂŠ, Michael Polansky, and mingling with other celebrities in Paris.

She informed her fans via Instagram story that she would be teasing new music tonight. Excited fans gathered outside the hotel and captured snippets of the new tracks as Gaga played them from her laptop atop a car.

"As heavy rain was forecasted, we wanted to ensure the performance took place on the majestic staircase by recording the sublime Lady Gaga an hour before the start of the ceremony. It was a matter of ensuring that the world could savor this electrifying moment while also paying homage to the French song."

Lady Gaga has been out and about in Paris after performing at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics on July 26, 2024.
Gaga performed a special version of “Mon truc en plumes” by French singer Zizi Jeanmaire along the river Seine. She posted a video of the full performance to her social media.
Today, July 27, Gaga and her boyfriend Michael Polansky visited a “Dior” boutique shop in Paris. Gaga wore an all-black ensemble, with a blazer, high heels, and a handbag.
Later, she stopped by a restaurant to order a sandwich – in French. 
 
 
Back at her hotel, Gaga sang an impromptu version of “Always Remember Us This Way” with fans. 
 
 
She dined at Laurent again, and once she left, she took a moment to sign autographs and take photos with fans.

Lady Gaga Partakes In Olympic Games Ceremony

Lady Gaga made a spectacular appearance at the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
The ceremony took place this Friday, July 26th, and for the first time in the history of the Summer Olympic Games, it was not held in a stadium. The Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony was held in the heart of the city along its main artery, the river Seine. Gaga was part of the ceremony, performing a special version of "Mon truc en plumes" by Zizi Jeanmaire.


The performance was pre-recorded a few hours before the ceremony to avoid technical issues from the heavy rain.

"I feel so completely grateful to have been asked to open the Paris 2024 this year. I am also humbled to be asked by the Olympics organizing committee to sing such a special French song—a song to honor the French people and their tremendous history of art, music, and theatre. This song was sung by Zizi Jeanmaire, born in Paris a French ballerina, she famously sang “Mon Truc en Plumes” in 1961. The title means “My Thing with Feathers.” And this is not the first time we’ve crossed paths. Zizi starred in Cole Porter’s musical “Anything Goes” which was my first jazz release. Although I am not a French artist, I have always felt a very special connection with French people and singing French music—I wanted nothing more than to create a performance that would warm the heart of France, celebrate French art and music, and on such a momentous occasion remind everyone of one of the most magical cities on earth—Paris. We rented pom poms from Le Lido archive—a real French cabaret theater. We collaborated with Dior to create custom costumes, using naturally molted feathers. I studied French choreography that put a modern twist on a French classic. I rehearsed tirelessly to study a joyful French dance, brushing up on some old skills—I bet you didn’t know I used to dance at a 60’s French party on the lower east side when I was first starting out! I hope you love this performance as much as I do. And to everyone in France, thank you so much for welcoming me to your country to sing in honor of you—it’s a gift I’ll never forget! Congratulations to all the athletes who are competing in this year’s Olympic Games! It is my supreme honor to sing for you and cheer you on!! Watching the Olympic Games always makes me cry! Your talent is unimaginable. Let the games begin!"
The message included pictures from a new photoshoot by Rémi Lamandé, taken on the side of the river where she performed.

Lady Gaga Gets Ready For Her Perfomance at The Olympics

As the opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics nears, Lady Gaga continues to meet with fans and serve chic street style in Paris, France. 
After much speculation, Gaga is confirmed to perform at this year’s games. She was seen rehearsing a performance of "Mon truc en plumes" by Zizi Jeanmaire on the Seine River.
 
 
Gaga was spotted earlier today outside of Le Royal Monceau, a luxury hotel in Paris. She wore a leather jacket, hooded sweatshirt and a white baseball cap as she waved to fans from her vehicle. 
 
 
Later, she left her hotel in Nike sneakers with a police escort. She stopped to sign autographs and take pictures with fans at the barricade.
 
 
She dined at the restaurant LapÊrouse for an evening meal before returning to her hotel. She wore a navy blazer, blue jeans, platform heels and a black Celine handbag. 

For the duration of her stay in Paris, her nails have been painted a bright pink color.

Lady Gaga Graces The Cover of EMPIRE as Harley Quinn

EMPIRE Magazine has unveiled the cover of their upcoming issue, featuring Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix as Harley Quinn and the Joker.

Lady Gaga gave her first interview about her role in "Joker: Folie Ă  Deux," discussing how she adjusted her singing voice to sound more authentic for her character "Lee."
"People know me by my stage name, Lady Gaga, right? That’s me as that performer, but that is not what this movie is; I’m playing a character. So I worked a lot on the way that I sang to come from Lee, and to not come from me as a performer. [...] How do you take music and have it just be an extension of the dialogue, as opposed to breaking into song for no conceivable reason? It was unlike anything I’ve ever done before.

[...] For me, there’s plenty of bum notes, actually, from Lee, I’m a trained singer, right? So even my breathing was different when I sang as Lee. When I breathe to sing on stage, I have this very controlled way to make sure that I’m on pitch and it’s sustained at the right rhythm and amount of time, but Lee would never know how to do any of that. So it’s like removing the technicality of the whole thing, removing my perceived art-form from it all and completely being inside of who she is."

In another part of the interview, Lady Gaga shared that while she drew some inspiration from the Harley Quinn of the comic books, she ultimately created her own version of the character, influenced by followers of Charles Manson.

With two days until the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, Lady Gaga is confirmed to participate in the opening ceremony. 
This will be her first televised live performance since the 95th Academy Awards in March 2023. 
As of now, there is no confirmation on what she will perform. 
Speculation around Gaga’s participation in the ceremony began after a press release from the Olympics teased “a show on a grand scale with an eclectic mash-up of the old and the new.”
The rumors grew stronger after Gaga arrived in Paris on July 22.
 
 
Gaga spent the days leading up to the opening ceremony meeting fans and enjoying the city.
 
 
She was seen at Laurent Restaurant in Paris on July 23, wearing a black-and-white jacket and a baseball cap. While out, she signed autographs for fans. 
 
 
The next day, she stopped to meet and take pictures with fans.

Lady Gaga Arrives in Paris Days Before the Olympics

Lady Gaga arrived in Paris today, a few days before the 2024 Summer Olympics ceremony. The singer was first seen this afternoon, arriving at her hotel in a blue denim hat and jacket.

A few hours later, she left the hotel in her car but paused before driving away to wave and blow kisses to her fans.


Later, she returned to the hotel and took some time to sign autographs and meet her fans.
Gaga’s arrival in Paris comes after speculation that she will perform at this year’s Olympic Games.
If so, this will be her first live performance since July 6, when she concluded the eighth leg of “Jazz & Piano” in Las Vegas.
The rumors started after a press release from the Olympics teased “a show on a grand scale with an eclectic mash-up of the old and the new.”
The Olympic Games will kick off on July 26, 2024.

'Joker: Folie Ă  Deux' to Premiere at Venice Film Festival

“Joker: Folie à Deux,” starring Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn and Joaquin Phoenix as the titular character, will have its world premiere at the 81st annual Venice International Film Festival, held from August 28 to September 7, 2024, at Venice Lido, Italy.

During the presentation, it was revealed that the official runtime of the movie is 2 hours and 18 minutes.
The anticipated Joker sequel will follow the festival path of the first movie, which was awarded the Golden Lion, the festival's highest prize, to director Todd Phillips in 2019. This will be Gaga's second appearance at the iconic Mostra, after the premiere of "A Star Is Born" in 2018, when she and Bradley Cooper received an eight-minute ovation and successfully launched an awards campaign that resulted in Gaga's first Oscar.
After the world premiere in Venice, “Joker: Folie à Deux” will hit theaters around the globe this October.

Lady Gaga Wraps 8th Leg of Las Vegas Residency

Last night, Lady Gaga finished the eighth leg of her “Jazz & Piano” residency in Las Vegas. 
The eight-show run opened at Dolby Live at Park MGM on June 19, 2024, and wrapped on July 6.
Gaga has now played 48 "Jazz & Piano" shows since 2019. 
 
 
The production was largely unchanged from Gaga’s prior “Jazz & Piano” shows in October 2023, aside from a new black-and-blonde wig,  and a revamped wardrobe. 
 
 
One major change to the set list includes the addition of “Americano” from Gaga’s 2011 album Born This Way, marking its first public live performance since The Born This Way Ball in 2013. 
 
 
Gaga's classic "Poker Face," "Paparazzi," "Bad Romance," "Born This Way" and "Stupid Love" remained on the set list. 
 
 
There is still a chance to catch Gaga performing jazz in the future. At the July 5 show, Gaga confirmed she will return to Las Vegas with a “brand new show," though she made no indication of when. 
 
 
Earlier in the leg, she teased the possibility of pop shows in the future. 
 
 
While Gaga didn’t directly address new music after teasing her return at the end of the GAGA Chromatica Ball film, fans tried to make her. Several shouted about LG7, but the most Gaga did to address the demand was offer a "not tonight," on the night of the first show. 
 
 
Later in the run, Gaga gave a fan a look after they shouted, "LG7 next!" to her.

RuPaul's Drag Race winner Sasha Velour interviewed Lady Gaga about her concert special GAGA Chromatica Ball ahead of its premiere in May.

"Chromatica, for me, is an ending and a beginning at the same time," Gaga said. 
While Gaga recalled the songwriting process for Chromatica as being both thoughtful and filled with anxiety, she called the tour a "total liberation." 
"It was like every faculty that I have when it comes to being an imaginative person just came back full throttle," Gaga said. 
Gaga said her performances and music are inspired by her fans, and the Chromatica Ball film is no different. 
"The way that this film was put together was designed to show the fans everything," Gaga said. "The fashion, the art direction, the films that were shown, the beautiful hair and makeup, was all a part of what Chromatica was all about." 
When asked if the Chromatica Ball tour allowed her to examine new parts of herself, Gaga said her biggest challenge when it comes to reinvention is to slow down.
"Sometimes I want to transform so much that I am just, like, a loose cannon," Gaga said. "All the fans know exactly what I'm talking about." 
Despite this, the tour helped her understand that she's always an artist, even when she's in between projects. 
"I get to be an artist every day, and whatever my reinvention is, is a part of that," Gaga said. 
To close the interview, Gaga teased a little bit of what to expect from her new music. 
"I have just been in the studio all the time, and I'm making a lot of music," Gaga said. "It's just this incredibly vast experience that I just feel so lucky that I get to have. I'm excited for Monsters to hear where I am now and be connecting on that level again."

Lady Gaga made a surprise appearance at a private event celebrating Summer Solstice in Nemacolin, Pennsylvania.
Gaga joined many celebrities in a star-studded weekend of glamour and magic, held from Friday, June 21 - Sunday, June 23, 2024 in a luxurious resort in Nemacolin. Organizers said that the celebration "will be the musical event of the century, with three world-famous musical guests performing private concerts exclusively for guests in honor of the grand reopening of The Chateau". 
Gaga donned similar black and blonde hairstyle and extravagant costumes like she did for her Vegas residency.
Gaga played her single "You and I" and she wowed the audience with her performance of "I Can't Give You Anything But Love" accompanied by Brian Newman and other bandmembers.
Just like she did at her "Jazz & Piano" show in Vegas a few days ago, Gaga performed fan-favorite "Americano".
Gaga also played "Shallow" and "Always Remember Us This Way".
Lady Gaga then sang her rendition of “La Vie en Rose”.
She premiered her cover of Tony Bennett's evergreen “Steppin’ Out With My Baby”.
Gaga closed the show with her own hit singles "Born This Way" and "Bad Romance".

Lady Gaga kicked off the seventh leg of her sold-out "Jazz & Piano" residency in Las Vegas, bringing back the vocals, old glamour and evergreen hits along with new fashion and a few other surprises.
Gaga returned to the stage to open the show with a new outfit while she also debuted new black and blonde hairstyle.
While she was at the piano, some fan shouted "LG7" and Gaga mysteriously replied: "Not tonight".
Gaga changed the outfit and the headpiece and sang a jazz rendition of "Stupid Love".
Another outfit change and Gaga surprised the audience with a fan favourite "Americano" from 2011's "Born This Way".
Gaga changed outfits, sang "Bad Romance" and closed the sold-out show with a touching cover of "Fly Me to the Moon".
Gaga also took the time to sign a few autographs and greet fans after the show.
The next "Jazz & Piano" show is scheduled for June 20th.

Warner Bros. published a new trailer for “Joker: Folie à Deux”.
The first trailer of “Joker: Folie à Deux” dropped in April, and it amassed 167 million views in its first 24 hours. 
 
 
The film is slated to include numerous musical numbers, many of which are expected to be covers. According to Variety, there is a chance of original music from Gaga in the film.
