Entertainment Weekly has published a new article and interview with DJWS about ARTPOP and the infamous unreleased ARTPOP Act II.
Read an excerpt of the interview below.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What is it like for you to see ARTPOP's resurgence eight years later?

DJ WHITE SHADOW: Everything is weird! We worked hard on that record and I'm glad it impacted people so much that they're still excited about it. Obviously, people talked about Born This Way and the impact it had on culture, and ARTPOP got stuck in a weird spot. There were a lot of things going on behind the scenes — management shifts for her.... the changing of the guard at Interscope, Jimmy Iovine was [leaving] and John Janick was coming in, and people weren't buying CDs anymore as much as they were streaming. It was wildly confusing. What a f---ed up time to drop a record. In the way that it gets pushed out, the numbers don't always reflect how it went down. That record was in upwards of 3 million in sales. It was a good-selling record, but when you're following [Born This Way selling] 6 million copies, you look like an asshole.
EW: I think songs like "Tea" and "Onion Girl" are the two I've seen people talking about the most. Lyrically, what story did those songs tell?
DJWS: It's tough for me to talk about lyrics. If her and I were sitting next to each other, I would totally talk about it. But I don't want to step on her like that. I can tell you that they're both good songs. There is a song called "Onion Girl."
EW: There was also "I Wanna Be With You," which she performed at the iTunes festival and you co-wrote, morphing to become "Dope" on the album. What happened with that process — how and why did it go from performing that song publicly to it changing into a different song for the album release?
DJWS: When we did the iTunes Festival, we hadn't gotten to the point where we were sitting in the studio finishing things completely. So, she wanted to make changes! At the end of the day, it's her art. If we're talking about a car, she comes up with the concept, she goes in and draws it, and I come in with a screwdriver and some wrenches and try and put the car together. Sometimes you have to take the car apart to put it back together the way she wants it, and that's all that is. That's a song that we had a version of, she liked it, and she wanted to do something different. It's not up to me to say no. I would never say no. Let's get this thing out the way she wants to get it together! At the end of the day, "Dope" was the song she wanted on the record, and it just started as something else. I see that happen 500 times, and you guys get to see it once. That's a microcosm of how albums work. You build one idea as A, and you don't go to Z, you go to AAA to five As to five Zs. I'm sure there were 12 iterations between "I Wanna Be With You" and "Dope" that we did.
EW: You've played snippets of "Tea" on the road. Are there any other instrumentals you might've played on the road without telling people they're from the album or have any of these instrumentals snuck into other places — whether it's tour interludes or anywhere else?
DJWS: No! I asked before I did that. Even if I make the instrumental and I play it for her and she thinks it's cool, out of respect for another human being, I'd always ask. I twisted it a little bit at the end to fit where it was supposed to fit in my personal set. I reproduced part of it.

DJWS was a producer on Lady Gaga's 2013 album, ARTPOP. The ambitious EDM album was met with mixed reviews from critics, but eventually became a cult classic. It is one of Gaga's most adored projects by her fans, and is now considered 'ahead of its time'.
Gaga had an entire second act that was set to be released, but it ended up being scrapped. Little Monsters have continued to campaign for it to be released one day, a dream that seemed like it would never be realized until April 2021.
On April Fools, DJWS posted a joke about one of the ARTPOP Act II songs, "Tea", and fans went into a frenzy. A petition was started to show the love for ARTPOP and the demand for the release of Act II. The petition got thousands of signatures, and ARTPOP went number 1 on iTunes Worldwide. The resurgence of ARTPOP got news outlets buzzing and Lady Gaga herself thanked fans for the love and support.

Lady Gaga is getting the season finale episode of "My Life on MTV" dedicated to her.
The series shows archival footage of stars throughout their career, and highlights unforgettable moments.

Each episode recounts the stories of global music superstars through a look back in time to now, all through the lens of the MTV cameras. The show showcases moments from their first introduction on MTV to defining moments in their careers, which could be performances, news, or award shows.
Lady Gaga's first time on MTV was on 2005 Boiling Points as Stefani Germanotta, so the show will likely highlight that memory.

“We have a rich history with these groundbreaking artists, and we’re thrilled to be bringing fans a fresh take on their most unforgettable moments that only happened here on MTV,” said Bruce Gillmer, president of music, music talent, programming and events at ViacomCBS.

Lady Gaga reveals in the new documentary, "The Me You Can't See", that she unfortunately became pregnant after her horrific sexual assault at 19.
Talking about the traumatic event, Gaga stated “I went through a really crazy time in my head that I still work on. And I’m trying to make sure I give back with that experience instead of just, I don’t know, locking it away and faking it.”
She then began to speak about her past in more detail, saying: “My mental health I thought was a problem when I was very young. I used to cut myself when I was really young. I had my own experiences with abuse and it’s really hard for me to articulate in a way where I feel like it’s safe for young people to listen about why anyone would cut. I do believe that those urges for me, came from a place of ‘I need to show the hurt inside’.”
Gaga then carefully took the time to relay the details of the event that caused her trauma and pain.
“I was nineteen years old. And I was working in the business. And a producer said to me ‘take your clothes off’. And I said ‘no’. And I left. And they told me they were gonna burn all my music. And they didn’t stop asking me and then I just froze and I just... I don’t even remember.”
She continued with: “And I will not say his name. I understand this ‘Me Too’ movement, I understand that some people feel really comfortable with this, and I do not. I do not ever want to face that person again.”
"Years later I went to the hospital, they brought a psychiatrist in and I said, 'Bring me a real doctor.' I said, 'Why is there a psych here, I can't feel my body.' I felt full-on pain, then I went numb," she said. "And then, I was sick for weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks after and I realized that it was the same pain I felt when the person who raped me dropped me off pregnant on the corner [outside] my parents' house, because I was vomiting, and sick. 'Cause I'd been being abused. I was locked away in a studio for months."

“I wanna be able to tell everybody that’s watching that I dry my tears now. And I move on... You can come back from things like that. But when it hits you really hard, it can change you. I had a total psychotic break and for a couple years I was not the same girl.”
Lady Gaga also explained how she is now able to overcome and control her trauma after many years.
“I learned all the ways to pull myself out of it. It all started to slowly change. It took two and a half years.”
The interviewer then asked Gaga, “What were you doing in that time?”
She replied, laughing “I won an Oscar! Nobody knew!”
“Everybody that’s at home right now suffering, I would like to say that it’s so important that you surround yourself with at least one person that validates you... somebody that believes you, that cares about you and tells you that your pain matters. And that it’s real.”

The singer has been open about her trauma in the past few years, discussing openly the effects her experience with rape has had on her mental health and physical well-being.
This new, shocking, detail emerges as Lady Gaga joins Oprah and other starlights in "The Me You Can't See" premiering on Apple TV+ today.

Ridley Scott's upcoming movie, "House of Gucci", has just finished filming in Rome today, May 6th, 2021.
Just a few months after we saw the first picture of Lady Gaga arriving in Rome (Feb. 24th), "House of Gucci" has wrapped up filming and will now move into post-production.

"House of Gucci" tells the story of the murder of Maurizio Gucci, owner of the Italian Luxury Brand 'Gucci,' killed by his former wife, Patrizia Reggiani.
The first look of Lady Gaga and Adam Driver on set were captured back on March 8th in Bressoney, Italy. It was our first glimpse at the pair in costume as Patrizia Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci.

Gaga also posted a behind-the-scenes shot of her and Driver on her socials shortly after with the caption "Signore e Signora Gucci #HouseOfGucci", becoming one of her most successful posts ever on the platform.
There have been many photos of the pair filming over the course of the past three months, giving us a glimpse at the upcoming film which will tell the couple's story from the beginning of their romance through to Gucci's murder.
Right after filming at the snowy set in Aosta Valley, the cast moved to Milan to shoot a few scenes in a re-created "New York", as well as other shoots on Piazza Duomo.

Just a week later, the cast moved to Lake Como, where we first saw Al Pacino and Jared Leto as members of the Gucci family.

The cast then moved to Rome, where they shoot most of the movie between the ancient streets and the private studios of CineCittĂ . Apparently, Lady Gaga also shot various scenes with Drag Queens, in a reconstructed Studio 54.

The "House of Gucci" author, Sara Gay Forden, revealed in an interview that Lady Gaga will be the narrator of Ridley Scott's upcoming movie, meaning the story will be told from the perspective of Patrizia Reggiani.
The first provisional release dates for "House of Gucci" have been released via IMDb.
In Canada, France, and the USA, the highly anticipated movie is set for a November 24th release. Australia, Germany, and the Netherlands can expect to see the movie in theaters on November 25th, and for the UK, Ireland, and Lithuania, the film should be released on November 26th. Italy will, unfortunately, have to wait a bit longer as "House of Gucci" is not expected to be released there until December 3rd.
