  2. Lady Gaga dazzled in her second double-duty performance on the March 8 episode "Saturday Night Live," where she debuted live performances of two songs from her recently released album, "MAYHEM." Watch the performances of "Abracadabra" and "Killah" below: Gaga's opening monologue poked fun at her 2013 'SNL' performance of "Do What U Want" with R. Kelly, as well as her Razzie Awards win for Worst On Screen Combo in "Joker: Folie a Deux." Many of Gaga's sketches featured musical elements. She and Bowen Yang played a couple who burst into song on their first date in "Wonderful Tonight," and they reunited at the end of the episode to put an end to modern lingo in "No More Slay." Her other live sketches include: "Funeral Home": Gaga and Heidi Gardner act as funeral home owners with a vision for their clients. "A Long Goodbye": Gaga's ex pursues her on a piece of motorized luggage. "LIttle Red Glasses": Gaga plays an older woman showing off her glasses. "Birthday at Friendly's": Mayhem erupts at a dinner when the restaurant staff learn a guest lied about her birthday. Gaga also appeared in pre-filmed sketches, including a commercial for extra runny mascara and a short film about a tiny mouse.
  3. Nothing was off the table in Lady Gaga's interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, where she talked about what "MAYHEM" means to her and described some of her soon-to-be-released new songs. Watch the video interview below, and read some of the highlights beneath: On "MAYHEM": Gaga described "MAYHEM" as her favorite record in a long time. "I feel like it has some teeth," she said. She talked about how she was able to be a student on music with "MAYHEM," which allowed her to figure out her own personal mayhem. The album was inspired out of loving music and sounds that she studied for at least a decade, allowing her to embrace the mayhem of being a nonlinear, cross-genre artist who combines a lot of things at once. "'ARTPOP' was a vibe. 'Joanne' was a sound, 'Chromatica' had a sound, all different. 'The Fame Monster' was more chaotic, 'The Fame' was theatrical pop, 'Born This Way' to me had more of a metal-electro-New York vibe to it, so I actually made the effort making 'MAYHEM' to not do that and not try to give my music an outfit, but instead to allow myself to be influenced by everything," she explained. "It's completely me, and it's my gift to my fans," she said. Touching on the success of "Abracadabra," Gaga said she thinks the song is very much her sound, something that she honed in after many years. She said part of what made its music video so special was the community it fostered: "I spent real time learning that choreography, working with Parris [Goebel] and working with those dancers, and I got to. be in their community while we made it, and I felt like I belonged. That feeling made me so happy." She went into detail on some of the new songs on the album, as well. She revealed that "Perfect Celebrity" was the working title of the album before it was "MAYHEM." "Perfect Celebrity," the song, is a 90s-inspired "electro-grunge" track about how she dealt with the anger she felt toward herself as it relates to the desire for fame. While the song is "super angry," she also described it as humorous, specifically the lyrics: "I've become a notorious being . Find my clone, she's asleep on the ceiling." "It's almost comical, this idea that any time I'm in the room wit anyone, there's me, Stefani, and Lady Gaga asleep on the ceiling, and I have to figure out which body to be in," she said. "Shadow of a Man," the song teased at the end of "GAGA Chromatica Ball," is a defiant, fun and powerful song about being a woman in music. "That song is so much ha response to my career and what it always felt like to be the only girl in the room a lot of the time, and to always be standing in the shadow of a man, because there were so many around me that I learned how to dance in that shadow," she described. "The Beast," the 12th track on the album, takes the perspective of someone singing to their werewolf lover, but Gaga said it can be applied to her relationship with her fiancé Michael, as well as her relationship to who she is on stage. "It's somebody that is saying to the beast, 'I know you're a monster but I can handle you, and I love you,'" she said. "Blade of Grass" calls back to her relationship with Michael. She described how she told him she'd marry him if he proposed with a blade of grass, and she detailed how they built a friendship over how to share one another's mayhem. "My home used to only be the stage. It was so lonely, and also, it is so much more fun to take somebody out there with you, someone that loves you, that knows what you're capable of in all the various aspects of life," she said. In terms of other songs, Gaga revealed "Garden of Eden" is a 2000s throwback and webstore-exclusive track "Can't Stop The High" is "a pure electro-grunge record that goes even harder than 'Perfect Celebrity' does." Lowe said "Zombieboy" is "crazy fun." At the end of the interview, Gaga said she feels like she's firing on all cylinders, and she revealed she has a desire to tour "MAYHEM" after her performance at Coachella next month.

  6. Just one day after releasing her seventh studio album "MAYHEM," Lady Gaga is doing double duty on the March 8 episode of "Saturday Night Live," marking her second time hosting and fifth time performing on the regular show. To celebrate, take a look back at each of Gaga's “SNL" appearances, from her first 30 Rock performance in 2009 to her recent outing at the show's 50th anniversary concert special. October 3, 2009: Season 35, Episode 2Gaga first appeared on "SNL" a month before the release of "The Fame Monster," when she was the musical guest on an episode hosted by Ryan Reynolds. She performed four songs: "Paparazzi," "LoveGame," an acoustic rendition of "Bad Romance" and a version of "Poker Face" with updated, New York-inspired lyrics. However, Gaga arguably stole the show when she appeared in a sketch with Madonna. The two fought, throwing insults at one another on a mock talk show. One of Madonna's lines, "I have hundreds of hits, you only have two" surely didn't age well. She appeared in one more sketch, centering around "SNL" cast member Andy Samberg realizing they're wearing the same outfit. May 21, 2011: Season 36, Episode 22Gaga's next performance on the show was to promote "Born This Way," and she appeared in a couple sketches, as well. First, she appeared in the "Liquorville" sketch, where she and host Justin Timberlake co-opted Kristin Wiig's attempt to get customers into her store. She appeared in another sketch with Timberlake, where they had to guess a series of mystery images. For performances, Gaga did a medley of "The Edge of Glory" and "Judas" for her first song, and "Born This Way" as her second. In addition to the live taping, Gaga appeared in a digital sketch with Samberg and Timberlake to debut their now-classic collaboration, "3-Way (The Golden Rule)." The song was later released on an album by The Lonely Island, Samberg's comedy band. "3-Way (The Golden Rule)" scored a nomination for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics at the 2011 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, but ultimately lost to TImberlake's musical monologue from the same episode. November 16, 2013: Season 39, Episode 6Gaga's first double-duty appearance premiered less than a week after the release of "ARTPOP." She performed three of the album's tracks: a jazzy rendition of "Applause" during her opening monologue, and "Do What U Want" with guest R. Kelly and "Gypsy" for her official performances. One of Gaga's many skits of the episode was "Waking Up with Kimye," where she played a nerdy Apple Store employee being interviewed by Kim Kardashian (Nasim Pedrad) and Kanye West (Jay Pharaoh) on their mock talk show. The sketch features Gaga's iconic line, "People who try too hard with their outfits are maybe hiding something." Other skits include "4th Grade Talent Show," where Gaga inadvertently performed a striptease in front of an unsuspecting audience, and "Spotlightz Acting Camp for Serious Kids," where she and the cast parodied scenes from acclaimed film and television shows like "Forrest Gump" and "Breaking Bad." Gaga's other sketches this episode include: "Worst Cover Songs of All Time": Gaga is supposed to sing of Madonna's "Express Yourself," but sings "Born This Way" instead. "Co-op Board": Gaga is a tenant who questions prospective new tenants who wish to move into her building. "Blockbusters": Gaga appears to Blockbuster employees in their dreams. "Old Lady Gaga": Playing herself as a 77 year old, Gaga tries to woo the maintenance man who has never heard of her. "Female Sea Captains" (cut for time): Gaga and an array of "SNL" women set off on a journey of mermen and sea shanties. October 22, 2016: Season 42, Episode 4Gaga was absent in sketches during her fourth appearance on the show, but she performed "A-YO" and a beautiful rendition of "Million Reasons" in her signature "Joanne"-era pink cowgirl hat. October 21, 2023: Season 49, Episode 2Gaga made a special appearance to introduce Bad Bunny's first performance on his 2023 double-duty episode. Bad Bunny has discussed his love for Gaga before, so her introduction came as a pleasant surprise to him. February 14, 2025: "SNL50: The Homecoming Concert""SNL" hosted a concert to celebrate its 50th anniversary, and Gaga was one of the featured performers. She reunited with Andy Samberg to give a hilarious performance: After Samberg botched Bradley Cooper's part of "Shallow," he and Gaga paid tribute to The Lonely Island to perform new versions of their "SNL" tracks "Dick in a Box" and "Motherlover." The two were joined by stars like Chris Parnell, T-Pain and Bad Bunny. Later, Gaga performed a solo version of "Shallow," for real this time. Be sure to watch Lady Gaga on "Saturday Night Live" at 11:30 p.m. EST this Saturday, March 8, on NBC.
  7. Lady Gaga and Spotify's Head of Global Editorial Sulinna Ong sat down for InStyle to talk about the upcoming Little Monster Press Conference, a fan-only event where Little Monsters can ask her anything. Gaga also dished on the creative process behind "Mayhem" and teased lyrics to two new songs. To read the interview in its entirety, click here. You can find highlights below. Gaga said that since the beginning of her career, community has been most important to her. The reason she wanted to do the press conference with Spotify was give her fan community a special opportunity to ask anything they may have wondered in the past two decades. "Feel free to ask me whatever you want!," she said. "We've been in this public conversation for a long time and I'm just so excited to talk to you." She went on to explain how she thinks some fans have missed her style of a "dark pop album," and she looks forward to putting "Mayhem" out because releasing an album allows an artist to reconnect with fans: "I made this for them." Calling the album a "return to an earlier process," Gaga revealed that "Mayhem" mixes live instrumentation and programming, which allowed her and her team of collaborators – Andrew Watt, Cirkut and Gesaffelstein – to create unique, never-before-heard sounds. Genre did not play as significant a role in the writing and recording process for "Mayhem" as it did in her other musical projects the past decade. "I would get seduced by making the album kind of homogenous, or on-theme. ... On 'Mayhem,' it was the opposite. I instead decided to allow myself the freedom to be chaotic with the genres and be chaotic with the choices as a way of celebrating the type of musician that I am." Gaga said "Mayhem" is a bunch of twisted, gothic dreams: "Some are true and some are not true, but they're somehow related to life." She cited "The Beast," the album's 12th song, as an example. The song, which she described as "me singing to a werewolf," features the lyrics: "You can't hide who you are, 11:59, your heart's racin', you're growling, and we both know why." She explained, "Somehow that gothic dream is not just about me in a relationship wit this person that's about to turn, but what if I was to just sing it to myself and the beast is Gaga?" The concept of duality is explored through the "Mayhem" era, from the multiple Gagas in the music videos for "Disease" and "Abracadabra" to the album track "Perfect Celebrity." Gaga expanded this duality by sharing a lyric from the upcoming song: "I've become a notorious being, find my clone, she's asleep on the ceiling." "It's the idea that we all, in a way, have our real selves and then our clone version that we project to the world," she explained. "So there's a lot in 'Mayhem' about multiple yous or multiple mes and what it's like to have those things be at odds with each other all the time." 8. With two weeks until the release of "Mayhem," Lady Gaga announced she will hold a first-of-a-kind press conference in conjunction with Spotify on March 6. The catch? Journalists aren't invited – the press conference will be exclusively for and with fans. Spotify Presents: Little Monster Press Conference will invite Gaga's top Spotify listeners in New York City to ask her about any and everything before dancing the night away to "Mayhem" in full. "I want you to ask me every burning desire of a question that you have," Gaga said in a video posted to Spotify's social media. "I can''t wait to celebrate 'Mayhem' with you, to talk about music, to talk about life. Whatever you want... (kind of)." The press conference will be simulcast on Spotify's Instagram, TikTok and YouTube accounts at 6 p.m. EST on March 6 for those not based in New York. To submit a question for Gaga, click here.
  9. With only three weeks until the release of "Mayhem," Lady Gaga's website was updated to seemingly tease new lyrics from her forthcoming seventh studio album. Upon visiting the site, a flurry of letters move around the orange-red background. After pressing and "drawing" on the screen, some letters assemble and spell out a new phrase each time. The new lyrics include: "AND YOUR HEART BEATS FAST CUZ YOU'RE IN THE ZONE" "I CAN HEAR EVERYTHING YOU'RE SAYIN' FROM HERE" "CHOKE ON THE FAME AND HOPE IT GETS YOU HIGH" "AND YOU CAN'T HEAR HER WITH THE MUSIC ON" "TAP ON MY VEIN SUCK ON MY DIAMOND BLOOD" "I'LL BURN A HOLE RIGHT THROUGH YOUR EYES" "STANDING IN THE SHADOW OF ANOTHER MAN" "LOOKIN' AT YOU LIKE A ZOMBIE KILLAH" "HAVE BEEN SO WORRIED THAT I'M LOST" "(YEAH YOUR GIRLFRIEND ISN'T HERE)" "GOODBYE I'LL SEE YOU IN MY DREAMS" "AH AH AH AH AH AH AHAHA AH AAAA" "BUT HER FRIEND IS WAY MORE FUN" "A LEGEND IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD" "SING FOR ME A SINFUL MELODY" "YOU CAN'T HIDE WHO YOU ARE" "TOMORROW YOU'LL DESERT ME" "IN THE BACK OF THIS PARTY" "I'M THE PERFECT CELEBRITY" "IF I'M GONNA GET YOU HOME" "AND YOUR CLOSING IN ON ME" "LIKE THE WORDS OF A SONG" "DRUG TO LAST A LIFETIME" "YEAH YOU WANNA BE COOL" "I CAN GET YOU MO-O-ORE" "BUT THE FEELINGS RIGHT" "I TRY SO HARD TO SING" "BRING ME YOUR DESIRE" "YOU'RE OUT OF BREATH" "AND WE BOTH KNOW WHY" "(DJ HIT THE LIGHTS)" To check out Lady Gaga Now's comprehensive list of all the physical variants of "Mayhem," click here.

Gaga previously paid tribute to the victims of the Los Angeles wildfires at the FireAid Benefit Concert, where she closed the show with performances of "Shallow," "Always Remember Us This Way" and a specially written song, "All I Need is Time." Additionally, Gaga joined forces with "Die With a Smile" collaborator Bruno Mars to perform a rendition of The Mamas & The Papas' "California Dreamin' " at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards. Earlier this week, Gaga closed the FireAid Benefit Concert, a fundraising event for Los Angeles, with the performance of three songs: "Shallow," "Always Remember Us This Way" and a song she wrote for the concert, "All I Need is Time." Gaga was nominated in two categories this year: Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, both for her Billboard Hot 100-topping collaboration with Mars, "Die With a Smile." 14. Alongside appearing on the covers of its US February 2025 and UK March 2025 magazines, Lady Gaga sat down with ELLE for an "Ask Me Anything" video. In the video, she addressed which song she wishes she released as a single, revealed which songs she'll never stop performing and teased her upcoming seventh studio album "Mayhem," to be released March 7, 2025. Watch the interview and read some of its highlights below: What track she wishes she released as a single: Gaga said she would've picked "Bloody Mary," but then changed her mind: "I don't think that song would've been big when I put out 'Born This Way.'" She called the song "ahead of its time," and joked that she didn't know if Jenna Ortega, her co-star in the upcoming second season of "Wednesday," was alive when she released it. She feels like fans would have really liked it if "Government Hooker" had been a single: "But, you know, they can't always get what they want." Her favorite lyric she's written: Gaga revealed a snippet of new lyrics from an unnamed "Mayhem" song: "Saw your face in mine In a picture by our bedside It was cold in the summertime We were happy just to be alive" She said she specifically loves the "cold in the summertime" line. How she would describe "Mayhem" in three words: Dark, poetry, hard: "I definitely didn't adhere to any one genre, but the beats are all really hard, so that was sort of the through line, is sonically, the album is pretty hard-hitting." What excites her most in fashion right now: Gaga said she loves watching young designers and name-dropped Ilona Perla Marie-Claire Slama, who creates babydoll dresses like the one she wore in "Elton John: Still Standing" and on ELLE's UK March 2025 cover: "I've been wearing those a lot. Makes me feel like a porcelain doll." The biggest risk she's taken musically: Despite a lot of people not wanting her to do it, Gaga said she thinks a lot of people thought she was crazy for making jazz: "I love all different kinds of music, and I feel like part of the joy of being a musician is that you are a student, and if you are not a student, for me, that's kind of a boring expedition. It's kind of like being an explorer, but you don't really want to find anything." The songs she'll never stop performing: Gaga had three picks – "Born This Way," "Bad Romance" and her vocal warm-ups: "I'll always do those in the shower, for sure." The Easter egg she didn't think fans would catch: Regarding Easter eggs, Gaga said, "I feel like I make them really easy. I should get better at making them harder." While she didn't think any would fly under the radar, she mentioned the rollout for "Disease," which was first teased with a Spotify playlist that spelled the song's name, which in turn led to a rabbit hole down different websites: "The whole time that that was happening I just was like, 'Do they know now? Do they know now?'" She mentioned that she loves seeing fans dissect what things mean. She said sometimes, when she's creating, she puts stories into her work and doesn't even notice she's doing it. That's where the fans come in: "Sometimes they're juts so dead-on, and other times they'll find meaning in it that I didn't even know was there." What advice "Mayhem" would give to "The Fame": Gaga answered with, "not to be so hard on herself all the time." She recounted feeling like she had already made it when she released "The Fame," when she would make her own costumes from clothing at vintage shops and perform in New York City: "That was some of the most beautiful times in my life, and then everything that happened after was pretty wild. And, yeah, I can't believe I'm still doing it." Then, Gaga sat down with ELLE UK to answer some more questions. How she'd describe the recording process for "Mayhem": Gaga said the recording process was about the songs, first and foremost: "It was extremely organic, and it was all about the songs. I wrote so many songs and spent a lot of time crafting and honing each one of them in. Over time, the production started to take form, and I started to produce them in more intricate ways." What exploring "the art of intensity" for "Mayhem" entailed: As an artist who works in extremes and pushes herself to the limit one way or another, Gaga said she wanted to explore why she works that way: "What I found is that the harder the music was, the more fragile the lyrics became. So there’s something that I experience as a human being that is like vulnerability and toughness at the same time." What kind of healing power music has: Other than her fiancé and family, Gaga said nothing makes her happier than music: "It always makes me feel just really grounded and centered and oddly in control of the outcome. It’s a really chaotic process making music, but you have to rely on yourself, and I can’t rely on everyone around me when I make a song. I really have to listen to what my heart’s saying." Given her nearly 20 years in the music industry, Gaga called it a blessing that she still loves writing and producing more than anything else: "The art of fame and my love of performing, all of those things are things that i got to explore along the way, but there’s just nothing like being in a studio by yourself and pressing record. It’s pretty cool." What lessons fans can take from "Mayhem" that haven't been explored in previous albums: "Mayhem" is completely about "the art of chaos": "It means if something gets too fast you have to figure out how to reign it in. if something is becoming mundane you have to add velocity." While she said pop music doesn't have to be super deep to be fun and effective, Gaga confirmed "Mayhem" has a lot of depth to it: "When the lyrics are more honest, then you have to be that honest with the sounds, and there were some moments making this record where I really surprised myself." She continued, "'Disease,' in a way, is so relentless the whole time that you have to have vulnerability in the lyrics. Otherwise, it will just be, to me, kind of boneheaded and dumb and boring, so you have to create wind when it’s raining rocks."
