While in New York City for the sixth MAYHEM Ball show on Sept. 7, 2025, Lady Gaga simultaneously racked up four MTV Video Music Awards, including Artist of the Year.
Her duet with Bruno Mars, "Die With a Smile," won Best Collaboration, and "Abracadabra" won Best Direction and Best Art Direction. Gaga was the most-nominated artist of the night, with a total of 12 nominations.
The night before the ceremony, Gaga pre-recorded a performance of the six-time nominated "Abracadabra" and the televised debut of "The Dead Dance," which was released alongside the second part of the second season of "Wednesday."

Gaga stopped by the ceremony in its first hour to accept the first award of the night, Artist of the Year. In her speech, she dedicated the award to the audience. "Thank you Little Monsters, my fans, for always supporting me and always supporting the Monster in me," she said.
Gaga had 18 VMAs wins prior to this year's ceremony, but with the four new awards, she is now the VMAs' third-most awarded artist in history, trailing Taylor Swift (30 wins) and Beyoncรฉ (28 wins).
