Lady Gaga is one of 26 people nominated for induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, an organization "dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the lives and legacies of the songwriters behind the world's most enduring songs."
A songwriter with a notable catalog of songs is eligible for induction 20 years after their first commercial release. While Lady Gaga's debut single "Just Dance" was released in 2008, she scored a nomination nonetheless.
Voting members have until Dec. 14, 2026 to submit their choices of up to three nominees in each of the categories: songwriter and performing songwriter. Gaga is nominated as a "performing songwriter." Only three nominees from each category will be inducted in 2027.
While Gaga has yet to win Song of the Year at the Grammy Awards, she has been nominated five times, most recently in 2025 and 2026 for "Die With a Smile" and "Abracadabra," respectively. Her songwriting talent was, however, awarded by the Academy Awards when Gaga took home the Oscar for Best Original Song for "Shallow." She has received two other nominations in this category.
Since its establishment in 1969, about 400 songwriters have been added to the Hall of Fame.
