In the midst of filming her next starring role as Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à deux, Gaga attended the ceremony to celebrate her Best Original Song nomination for Top Gun: Maverick's "Hold My Hand". This marked her third nomination in the category and fourth overall, having previously won the award in 2019 for the renowned hit "Shallow" from A Star Is Born.

Marking her second appearance in a row at the Oscars, having presented last year's Best Picture prize with Liza Minnelli, Gaga turned heads on the red carpet wearing a striking Versace gown styled by Tom Eerebout and Sandra Amador, with hair by Frederic Aspiras and make-up by Sarah Tanno.

In a surprise turn of events, Gaga also gave a show-stopping performance of “Hold My Hand”, despite initial reports that she could not prepare one in time due to filming commitments for Joker: Folie à deux. She moved the audience with a stripped-down rendition dedicated to the late Top Gun director Tony Scott.
