Vogue Interviews Lady Gaga about 'MAYHEM' and Her Artistry
Lady Gaga spoke to Vogue about her artistry and her brand new album "MAYHEM." Gaga talked about different feelings behind the songs on "MAYHEM": "I allowed myself to be lots of contradictory things, and I think thatβs real. 'Blade of Grass,' in a way, has a lot of insecurity in it, and 'Killah' has none. But Iβm definitely the same person and I definitely have both of those feelings." Speaking about the meta element in "Perfect Celebrity," she added: "Itβs an angry song; Iβm angry at myself. It felt like a song that had been inside of me for 15 years that I needed to get out. Iβm still nervous for people to hear it. ... Because my life changed so much when I was in my early 20s, it took some of the realness of life away from me, and that really changed my songwriting. Now, as Iβve gotten older, I value my artistry before fame. Having an amazing relationship nowβcloser friendships, more time with family, and a more grounded lifeβhas helped my writing and helped me think about fame in a different way. But [βPerfect Celebrityβ] still came out in the way that it did, and I didnβt want to change it too much. I felt myself judging myself while I was writing, but then I was like, nopeβjust be honest! Because I really wanted Mayhem to be honest in all of its craziness." Speaking about her Coachella comeback, she teased: βIβm going to give it everything Iβve got.β Read the full interview HERE.

Rolling Stone Interviews Lady Gaga about 'MAYHEM'
Lady Gaga was interviewed by Rolling Stone magazine, where she described the creative process behind her brand-new album "MAYHEM." Speaking about her inspiration for the album, Gaga mentioned "The Fame Monster" and "Born This Way," adding: βI wanted to traverse old ground while breaking new ground, which I think is hard to do. There are a few moments on the album where some people might say, βOh, that reminds me of this,β because I do have a style, but I made an effort musically to push myself to a new place.β She also shared what "MAYHEM" is about: β'MAYHEM,' to me, is ultimately about resilience and also chaos. We need to be resilient through chaos. So, itβs both. I do think I explored more sonically with bitterness on this album in a way that maybe I didnβt with some of my earlier records.β Talking about how the album ends with two love songs, she said: βSo it was eerie, tense, really ominous chords. But then (βBlade of Grassβ and) βDie With A Smileβ are really hopeful, dreamy, and classic, and thatβs where the mayhem ultimately ends. The beauty of the album is that the mayhem doesnβt repeat. It ends.β Read the full interview HERE.

Lady Gaga's New Choreographer On 'Abracadabra' Video
Lady Gaga's new choreographer and "Abracadabra" co-director, Parris Goebel, an acclaimed dancer and choreographer, shared the inspiration behind MAYHEM's brand-new viral single and music video. When asked about being the latest addition to the Haus of Gaga team, Parris responded: "...when her team reached out and I got to meet her and listen to her album and she welcomed me into her world, I just couldn't believe it. She has inspired me so much, and I think just as a woman, she knows no boundaries, and that, for me, is how I approach my artistry. Now, being a part of her world, it's really the coolest shit I've ever done." Delving further into the creation of the "Abracadabra" music video, she added: "This project explores different sides of Gaga and how they coexist in her life. Everything is very theatrical... From the styling to the casting to the set, how we design the club, to the lighting, everything just matters. You're creating a whole world from scratch. Everything was just done so delicately and meticulously and I got to bring on dancers that I've admired for years. I brought in choreographers to dance, which never happens in our worldβall ages, all walks of life, and people I've worked with for years." Parris also discussed the rehearsals and the process behind the making of the video: "We were prepping, oh my goodness, maybe for about three weeks in total. ... But the shoot was two days long and was really demanding for everyone. You can see they're dancing from top to bottom, and we're doing take after take after take, but you can feel that hard work through the video. ... We should just build our own club. I think it's going to have such a different feel to actually be in this space. If weβre going to have 50, 60 dancers in the room, I think it's going to inspire everyone to really get lost in this world if we actually build the set out and make it feel like we're transporting everyone to a different dimension." Speaking about the many hidden details in the already viral music video and what fans can expect from the Mayhem era, Parris said: "I would say bringing pop culture back to life."
