Rolling Stone Interviews Lady Gaga about 'MAYHEM'

Lady Gaga was interviewed by Rolling Stone magazine, where she described the creative process behind her brand-new album "MAYHEM."

Speaking about her inspiration for the album, Gaga mentioned "The Fame Monster" and "Born This Way," adding:

โ€œI wanted to traverse old ground while breaking new ground, which I think is hard to do. There are a few moments on the album where some people might say, โ€˜Oh, that reminds me of this,โ€™ because I do have a style, but I made an effort musically to push myself to a new place.โ€

She also shared what "MAYHEM" is about:

โ€œ'MAYHEM,' to me, is ultimately about resilience and also chaos. We need to be resilient through chaos. So, itโ€™s both. I do think I explored more sonically with bitterness on this album in a way that maybe I didnโ€™t with some of my earlier records.โ€

Talking about how the album ends with two love songs, she said:

โ€œSo it was eerie, tense, really ominous chords. But then (โ€˜Blade of Grassโ€™ and) โ€˜Die With A Smileโ€™ are really hopeful, dreamy, and classic, and thatโ€™s where the mayhem ultimately ends. The beauty of the album is that the mayhem doesnโ€™t repeat. It ends.โ€
