Even Margot Robbie can't wait to see Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn.
In an interview with MTV News for her latest film Amsterdam, the film star, best known for playing Quinn in the Suicide Squad films as well as the character's solo feature Birds of Prey, was asked to share her thoughts on Gaga reinterpreting the role in the upcoming Joker sequel, Folie à Deux.
"It makes me so happy," Robbie expressed to MTV's Josh Horowitz.
"I said from the very beginning, all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters, the way like Macbeth or Batman, always gets passed from great actor to great actor. I feel like, in not so many cases, are they female characters... It's such an honor to have built a foundation strong enough that Harley can now be one of those characters."
Though Gaga's role in Joker: Folie à Deux has yet to be officially confirmed, Robbie has joined fans in their excitement at her likely playing Quinn, stating "I think she'll do something incredible with it."
Joker: Folie à Deux, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, and directed by Todd Phillips, is slated for release October 4, 2024 under Warner Bros. Pictures.
